Timber, Dad, Sasha, Lex, Sadie, and I are in Timber’s truck. Since Nikki is working today, we said we’d bring Sadie in with us. Levi, Dragon, Thor, Ethan, Drae, and Lindsey are in Thor’s truck. And last but not least, Axe is driving Susie and Jordan, who recently announced that they’ll be moving back to Forest Creek in the coming weeks.
Obviously not everyone will be able to watch the ultrasound, but the ladies, Dad, and Timber will. If we can all fit in the room, that is.
I’ve also been told that when we get back to the clubhouse, I’m to call the Junction Creek chapter. They weren’t able to come out since they’re getting ready for their own Halloween preparations, but I know I’ll be seeing them for Thanksgiving, if not sooner.
“Ready, Sunshine?” Timber asks as he pulls up in front of Dr. Rowen’s office, the doctor Levi’s using.
“Nervous. Extremely nervous. Especially with what Bruce said he injected me with,” I whisper and both him and Dad squeeze my hands.
“No matter what happens, you’ve got the club at your back,” Dad tells me.
“Both clubs!” Sadie cheers from the backseat, which has all of us chuckling.
“Okay, let’s see what we can find out about my jellybean,” I say as I unbuckle my seatbelt.
The guys do a perimeter check, as always, and I step out of the truck. I’ve been able to move around easier now and about half of my stitches are either fully or mostly dissolved. The others are being rather stubborn.
Stepping up to the podium, I check in and Levi swings around me, hugging the lady behind the desk.
“Mae, this is Elaine, Dr. Rowen’s wife. Elaine, this is Mae who is Timber’s Old Lady and Smoke’s daughter.”
Elaine gets up and circles the desk, wrapping me in a hug that, thankfully, isn’t too tight. Then again, I’m guessing she’s used to not giving tight hugs with being around pregnant women all the time.
“Give us a few minutes and we’ll have you back there to check on your little peanut.”
A giggle escapes at her excitement and Levi loops her arm through mine as we go sit down.
Twenty minutes later, I’ve had my weight taken, which I’m glad has rebounded nicely as of late, and answered all of the doctor’s questions. He was worried about my attacks when he saw my scars, but I’m guessing he knows a little about the club because of how his question is phrased. And he knows enough to not to say too much about it, either.
“Dealt with?” he asked as he cocks an eyebrow at Timber, who just smirked in return.
Dr. Rowen lowered my shirt and continued as if nothing was wrong or amiss.
Now, though, the nerves are back. Full force.
Nikki already warned me that they’d most likely do a transvaginal ultrasound, so I’m not surprised when they put a condom on the wand.
“Whoa, what’s going on?” Timber asks as he steps forward.
Oops. Guess I forgot to tell Timber.
“Don’t worry, big man. This is how you see the baby this early. It’s completely normal,” Nikki reassures him, and he takes a hesitant step back to my side.
Tears prick my eyes as I hear the rhythmic whooshing sound fill the room. Levi takes my hand and squeezes it, both of us sharing a grin.
Dr. Rowen and the technician’s faces turn curious for a moment, and my stomach sinks.
The drug.
Did they lie about it?
“What’s wrong?” I ask and I’m not able to keep my voice from cracking.
“Let me just adjust the wand slightly to make sure real quick,” the technician says as she moves and then clicks some buttons.
Dr. Rowen straightens and grins down at me. “Seems the clubhouse is going to get busy really quickly.”
The technician prints off a bunch of pictures and I stare at them, not able to believe the news. Dr. Rowen waits until the technician leaves before speaking again.
