Was he for real?

“You’re right,” I said. “I don’t believe you.”

“I have many children all over the world. But when I heard Carmen’s son became the boss of the Red Eagles and managed to weasel his way into the Casadei family, I was impressed, and I knew I had to meet you.”

I shot Ricky and Miguel a glare. Those two little traitorous shits should die for telling this guy all of that when I’d strictly forbade them from doing so.

I stared at Giacomo. All the times when I’d wondered who my father was, where he was, and why he wasn’t coming flashed through my mind.

And now he’d come only because of what he believed I’d achieved.

If it weren’t for all the guards, I’d put a bullet in him.

No, if it weren’t for Claudia.

I didn’t want to lose her.

“Well, now you met me. You can go,” I said coldly.

“I have an offer for you. I want you to hear me out first.”

I wanted to tell him to go fuck himself, but I needed to know what he was up to. “Speak. You have five minutes.”

“I have a plan to destroy the Casadeis and Benjamin Romano. I’m currently working with Benjamin, and he doesn’t suspect anything. But he doesn’t know about you. You and I could defeat them together and rule the city. You get one half and I the other. We’ll be unstoppable.”

Destroy the Casadeis?

I gritted my teeth. Giacomo was so not getting anywhere near Claudia. I’d sooner kill him with my own bare hands.

“You have access to the Casadei’s house. It’s all we need,” Giacomo said. “Your plan was brilliant. Kidnap her and then pretend you’re her savior. How did you pull that off?”

“My plan failed, and Claudia broke up with me,” I lied.

“Nonsense. You’ll win her back. Women like her fall easily. Trust me. I’ll take care of Benjamin when he least expects it, and you take care of the Casadeis.”

I wanted to punch him in the face for insulting Claudia, but it was better if he believed I was on his side.

“You’re talking about betraying your current partner.” I cocked my head at him. “Why should I trust you?”

“Because you’re my blood, and we’ll sign a deal.”

Yeah, so incredibly trustworthy. I’d bet Benjamin had gotten the same speech, minus the father part.

Unless...

Actually, Benjamin and Giacomo should be around the same age, so Benjamin was a little too old to be Giacomo’s son.

“How long have you known?” I asked.

“Known what?”

“That I’m your son.”

“I found out a few months after you were born. Carmen got in touch with me and told me, but I’m a mafia boss, and like I said, I have many children. You were better off with your mother.”

It took all of my willpower to keep my face expressionless and not show him how much I wanted to bang his head against the wall.

I doubted he’d ever even thought about me.
