"Come on, Simone. This isn't nothing." He crossed the room in a few quick strides, his concerned expression deepening when he saw the smashed remains of my phone. Gently, he placed a hand on my shoulder, offering comfort and support. "Talk to me."
I hesitated, unsure if I could trust him with the truth – the whole, messy, fucked-up truth. Seth had always been protective of me, and I didn't want to burden him with my problems, especially not now, when they seemed so insurmountable.
"Fuck, Seth – it's Hugo." My voice trembled as I spoke, betraying the emotions I tried so desperately to keep bottled up. "He won't answer my calls or texts. I don't know what's going on, but it's tearing me apart."
Seth's brow furrowed, anger flashing in his eyes before he quickly masked it with concern.
"Have you tried reaching out to Austin, Logan, or Dom? Maybe they’ve heard from him?"
"Of course I have!" I snapped, frustration bubbling over. "But no one knows where he is. It's like he just fucking disappeared."
"Alright, alright, calm down," Seth said soothingly, giving my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "We'll figure this out together, okay? We always do."
"Thanks, Seth," I whispered, fighting back fresh tears. It felt good to have my big brother on my side, even if I couldn't bring myself to tell him everything just yet.
"Anything for you, sis," he replied, determination in his voice. "We'll find Hugo, and we'll get to the bottom of this."
Taking a deep breath, I knew I couldn't keep the secret from him any longer. The weight of it was crushing me.
"Seth... there's more," I whispered hesitantly, my voice trembling with fear and vulnerability.
"More? What do you mean?" His eyes narrowed; concern etched across his face.
My heart pounded in my chest as I finally forced out the truth.
"I'm pregnant, Seth. It's Hugo's."
For a moment, he just stared at me, shock registering on his face before giving way to anger.
"You're fucking kidding me!" he exploded, pacing back and forth with clenched fists. "How could you let this happen, Simone? How could you be so careless?"
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I struggled to explain. "It wasn't like that, Seth. We were careful, I swear. But nothing's foolproof, and – well, here we are."
"Damn it, Simone!" He ran a hand through his hair in frustration, his face red with anger. "Just what the hell were youthinking, getting involved with Hugo like this? You know his reputation, and now he's left you with a baby to take care of?"
My heart raced as I watched my brother's rage intensify, his fists clenched at his sides. I couldn't help but feel defensive, knowing how much Hugo meant to me, despite his flaws.
"Please, Seth," I pleaded, tears streaming down my cheeks. "I know you're upset, but it's not like Hugo planned this. We didn't plan this. I need your help, not your anger."
"Help? You want my help now?" He stopped pacing and stared at me, his eyes boring into mine. "Simone, do you have any idea what kind of fucking mess you've gotten yourself into?"
"Of course I do!" I snapped, my frustration boiling over. "But I can't change what's happened. I can only deal with it, and I need my big brother by my side."
Seth sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair as he looked away from me. I could see the conflict in his eyes, knowing that all he wanted to do was beat the shit out of his best friend.
"Fine," he finally said, his voice tight with frustration. "I'll help you. But I'm doing it for you, Simone, not for that piece of shit who got you into this mess."
"Thank you," I whispered, relief flooding through me. Though I knew I had an uphill battle ahead of me, having my big brother there made me feel like I could face it.
"First things first, though," Seth continued, his tone serious. "We need to find that bastard and make sure he takes responsibility for this."
"Agreed," I murmured, my determination flaring to life. No matter what it took, I would make sure Hugo faced the consequences of his actions – for our baby's sake, and for mine.
"Listen, Seth," I began, taking a deep breath to steady my nerves. "Hugo and I – it wasn’t just some fling. I love him."
"Love?" Seth scoffed, his eyes blazing with anger. "You think he loves you?"
“I know he loves me.”
