“Not yet,” I shook my head. “Give them some time to settle in. Besides, I don’t want Irwin’s pup to get any ideas about coming early. We don’t need him and Shepard in labor at the same time.”

“Does that really happen?” Cade arched a brow.

“I’ve seen it with pregnancies that are close to term,” I nodded.

“Have you guys picked out a name yet?” Cade asked, sitting down on the floor with me.

We both stretched out on our backs and let out long breaths.

“No, because no matter what time of the day or what angle we go at it from the baby doesn’t want to give up any information. We’re pretty sure they’re going to grow up to be an undercover agent,” I laughed. “It’s so ironic. Fen’s having a boy. He’s further away from his due date and we know that. Irwin’s baby could pop any day and we don’t know anything.”

“You know they’re healthy and probably a wolf,” Cade offered up.

“Someone’s paying attention in therapy,” I laughed.

“Gotta focus on what you know and what you can actually control, doc,” Cade laughed.

“You’re laughing, but you’re right.”

“What about the younger one? What are you going to call him?” Cade asked, staring up at the ceiling.

“Fen’s leaning toward Lux,” I said.

“Light. I like it,” Cade nodded. “How are you dealing with it all?”

“I’m excited more than anything. I think we have it all figured out as much as possible,” I said.

“Eh, you just wanted another two of them to catch up to me,” Cade laughed.

“At least mine won’t set the clothes hamper on fire if they fall asleep in it,” I said and playfully elbowed him.

“That wasn’t funny. I thought Indigo was going to die,” Cade said.

“He has scales. He was fine. If he wasn’t, we couldn’t joke about it. How’s Sunny?” I asked.

“He misses them,” Cade sighed and leaned his temple against my shoulder. “A lot. A bloody lot. It’s Dada Dada Dada all the time. It makes my ass ache. I missed him while he was gone. It’s like my brain got confused because he was here while Eston was pregnant. Now, I feel like an ass for wanting him back, because he clearly misses our parents.”

“He’ll be back with them soon and there’s nothing wrong with missing him. I miss my siblings all the time. Some of them are about to graduate from the academy and I hope they come here. I won’t ask them too or try to convince them, because the culture back home is different. You’re almost expected to stay and take up the grail of protecting traumatized and at-risk omegas.”

“Dude,” Cade laughed.

“What’s so funny about that?”

“You’re doing that here too. So, I don’t think you escaped that calling.”

“Maybe not, but I think you picked up the cause too. I remember hearing about how you got shot in the woods to save Abel,” I said.

“All in a day’s work.”

“We better get moving,” I said. “The sun will be up soon, and everyone will know Shepard’s in labor.”

“We’re already at his house, Alpha,”Irwin chimed into my thoughts as if he’d been listening in all along.

Chapter Forty-Seven

Irwin

I paced the bathroom because I was too big to kneel down by the tub like I did the last time Shepard had a baby. I was too big to do much of anything besides pace. There wasn’t anywhere comfortable to sit, but I wasn’t leaving my best friend alone while he was in labor.
