I looked around trying to remember where my wallet was. I’d taken it out of my pants before shoving them into the laundry bag.

“One sec---”

“We are a no tip establishment,” he grinned. “Don’t worry. We’re paid well enough to make up for it. What a lot of places expect in gratuity is built into the bill. I’ve never been sure if the boss didn’t want money everywhere or if he doesn’t trust people to tip.”

“I wouldn’t. I’ve worked food service before. It was never nice.”

“It’s great here,” he nodded, his green eyes glittering. “I’ve been here since we opened and haven’t had any trouble with guests. Most of them are locals and the ones who pay to come this far out usually aren’t looking for trouble. We get a lot of families on kid-friendly days and a lot of mating mooners.”

“We fall into the latter,” I grinned, trying not to blush.

“That reminds me. Whenever you’re ready for your complimentary champagne just phone down to the kitchen. Congratulations.”

I glanced at his name tag.

“Thanks, Joe,” I said.

“Any time. The kitchen’s open day or night. It won’t always be me, but someone will be around to ensure you have the most excellent experience with us.”

He gave a little bow of his head before wishing me a great evening and disappearing back into the hall. The shower turned on further into the suite and I sniffed the air wondering if Marcus managed to wake up Fen. I tiptoed back into the bedroom to find the bed empty. The resort offered maid service, but I’d found some extra linens while putting things away. I stuffed the naughty sheets into another laundry bag and put fresh ones on before going to peek under the cloches.

I’d gone simple with burgers, fries, and side salads along with some sodas. It wasn’t five-star cuisine, but I wasn’t sure how long we’d have to eat. My stomach growled and I closed the cloche. Everything looked good and I didn’t want to start without them.

“He’s not in heat,”my wolf yawned into my thoughts as I plopped down on one of the room’s many plushy green armchairs.

“He might go that way if we don’t get to the vows soon. I’m surprised he’s gone this long without going into heat. Yeah, yeah. The puppy.”

Faran!

I sprinted back into the bedroom and found my phone. I had a few texts from Shepard – pictures of Faran and Norbert cuddled up together for a nap.

ME: Sorry I didn’t check in when we arrived. We just. Well. You know.

SHEPARD: Don’t worry about it. The kids looked so cute I took a nap with them.

ME: How’s Faran holding up?

SHEPARD: He’s a baby. He’s holding up fine. He’s at my house not overseeing the reconstruction of London.

ME: I know! I just --- I’ve never been away from him.

SHEPARD: Are you guys having fun?

ME: So far only in the room.

SHEPARD: That’s why I booked one of the mating moon suites. Make sure you get your champagne.

ME: Thanks again for talking me into this trip. I miss Faran, but I think this will work things out. I’m hopeful that it will anyway.

SHEPARD: I’m hopeful too. You have fun and don’t worry too much about Faran. We got him. We’ve kept Norbert alive this long. He’ll be fine too.

ME: Thanks again.

Chapter Twenty-Seven

Marcus

After I kissed Fen awake, I sent him off for the first shower while I slipped out of the suite to call Daniel and check on Faran. It only rang once before he picked up.
