Ican’t believe the guys were doing this.

Parking my bike I sat there for just a minute, trying to wrap my mind around what I was about to do. My friends, people I trusted with my life, were stabbing me in the back because I had found my omega again. Instead of being happy for me, they were just looking at it as me abandoning the chapter even though I had selected new leadership.

Now Eliza and her friends were all walking around with bodyguards. My pack and the others were all on high alert waiting for some kind of fight to break out.

All because of me.

It filled me with rage knowing they were putting my omega at risk. All I wanted to do was bow out gracefully. I would never have faulted one of my men for leaving in a similar situation.

Finding a mate didn’t make me fucking soft.

There was no way I could just sit there and not try to talk them down. I owed my friends that much.

A sickening crack broke through my thoughts and then something wet was running down my face. Was it raining?

Reaching up, I touched my forehead and then looked at my hand… It was covered in bright-red blood.

“You thought you could just walk away from us, Viper?” a cold voice scoffed while another laughed.

“We’ll teach you just what that means. There’s only one way out of the club and I promise you, it won’t be easy.”

The voice was familiar. A man I once thought of as a brother had done something unforgivable.Python.His once rugged and stoic features were now contorted into something monstrous and unfamiliar.

Another hit from behind struck… I had no chance to defend myself as one of them raised their gun.

Pain erupted in my chest and then my vision started to fade. Eliza’s pretty face flashed in my mind and the pain that echoed from that vision was far worse than the pain radiating from my chest.

Fuck… There’s no way I was going to let them do me in after finding Eliza again.

Too bad my body didn’t seem to agree with that.

Eliza

Ring!

Ring!

Groggily, I blinked trying to figure out what was going on. Then I realized it was my phone.

They’ll call back in the morning.

Rolling over I tried to snuggle into Romeo, hiding from whoever had the audacity to call me right now. He squeezed his arm around my middle, tucking me closer in when it started to ring again.

“Ugh,” I groaned, rolling away to dig my phone out of the clothes piled on the floor.

“Who is it?” Romeo mumbled into the pillow.

“It’s Loki,” I answered him, instantly alert once I saw the alpha’s name on my phone screen.

“Hey, what’s—?” I started to talk but he interrupted me with a hard voice.

“You and Romeo need to get to Alexandria General.”

“Why? Are you okay?!” I shot up, throwing Romeo his clothes. He caught them easily, already moving when he heard me start to question his cousin.

“I’m fine, sunshine,” he replied easily then let out a shaky breath. “But Viper isn’t. One of the other guys found him outside our compound and called an ambulance.”
