"I would do anything for you," Daddy continued to speak. "I hope you know that."

"I do, Daddy," she whispered.

"I want you to know that no matter how stressed I am or whatever is going on, even if I’m super busy, that you can come to me for things," he said. "You can come to me for anything and everything. I mean it."

She nodded her head, but she knew that she would feel guilty if she came to him when he was super busy or stressed just because she needed something or was worried about something. It didn't seem right to do that to him.

"It's my job as your Daddy to take care of you and to make sure that you're alright," he said. "I want you to come to me foryour worries and your stresses. I don't care how small they are, I want you to come to me so I can help you."

Sofia nodded her head again, understanding what he said. Maybe she could come to him for some of the bigger things. Well, she knew she was going to come to him for the bigger worries, but she didn't know about the smaller ones. She didn't want to inconvenience him.

"What are you thinking?" Daddy asked. "And please don't lie to me or filter your thoughts. I want all the unfiltered thoughts and words."

She let out a sigh and then took a deep breath. She owed it to him, always did, to tell him the truth and let him know what was going through her head. Communication was key to everything and she didn't want to fault on that.

Not anymore.

"I don't want you to think of me as a burden if I come to you for everything," she softly said. "I don't want to add on to your stresses or worries by telling you mine. That doesn't seem very fair."

"You will never be a burden," Daddy said. "Do you understand?"

Sofia nodded her head, but he raised his eyebrow. "Yes, Daddy. I understand."

"I'll have to remember to remind you about that. I don't want you to ever think that you are a burden to me because you aren't. You are a blessing and I want to cherish you and help you with everything. I'm your Daddy and I love being your Daddy."

Tears filled her eyes and he continued to talk. He knew exactly what to say to her to get his point across.

"I'm going to worry about you more if you don't come to me for things. I'm going to worry that you're trying to be a big girl all the time and take on the world by yourself. But you don't have to because you have me, your Daddy, who will help you and beyour rock. You don't have to carry everything on your shoulders because you can give me some of the load, a lot of the load."

Those tears fell down her face, but she didn't try to hide it.

"So, I want you to come to me with every little worry you have," he said. "No matter how silly you think they are, I want you to come to me for it and we'll figure it out together."

She nodded her head and wiped away the tears from her face.

"Now, do you have anything to ask me? Why were you worried about me?" he asked.

"What's wrong? You've been acting weird," she softly asked, afraid of what he was going to say.

Would he tell her what was worrying him or would he keep it a secret? She knew he wasn’t going to say he didn’t want her anymore because of his whole speech he just gave but that didn’t help her worry any less.

"Marry me," he said.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

SOFIA

Sofia stared at her Daddy in shock. Did he just say what she thought he said? Was he alright?

"What?" she whispered, not believing what he just asked her.

"Marry me," he said again. "Walk down an aisle in a pretty white dress, say our vows, and get married."

She continued to stare at him, trying to process his words. She couldn't believe what she just heard. Had he really just asked that again?

"I love you and I know you haven't said it back, but your actions speak louder than words. I know you feel the same way about me, or if you don't fully love me yet, I know that you will soon," he explained. "If you marry me, it could be easier for you to get your Green Card and I want you with me until we grow old. I'm not just asking because it benefits you with getting a Green Card. I'm asking because I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And I hope you feel the same."

Sofia's eyes watered again. "I do love you," she whispered. He had shown her just how much he loved her the past several days and she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.
