“Sophia, not Isabelle,” I heard her scream after me, but I was already halfway past the hall, rushing after the girl who looked like Mariana.
“Moya zvezda.”
Mariana stopped, turned around and her brown eyes widened when they met mine. “Vlad?”
A smile played on my lips. Seemed she’d figured my name out already. How did she though? I walked up to her, inhaling the rosy scent rolling off her.
She wore a blue, silky evening gown, diamonds of a darker shade sparking around her neck and on her ears. Her platinum blonde hair sat on her hair like a ballerina’s would. She looked breathtakingly beautiful and classy. Expensive, yet modest.
The way her dress clung to the curve of her hips and the way the swell of her breasts heaved when she breathed had my cock jerking.
I sipped more of my champagne, throat drying up from salivating over her. Shit, this woman was getting to me in ways I never knew a woman could get to me—in a mind-fizzling way.
“Yes, love. Why are you here?”
She rolled her eyes, pursing her lips. “I should be asking you the same thing.”
Warmth filled my chest, amusement sparking to life. She and her smart mouth, always talking back. “Because I was invited. If you know my name then you probably already know who I am.”
“Of course, I do. You’re a bad person.” She paused, skimming me for a moment. “Look around. Every painting you see on the walls was created by me.”
I peered around the walls, noticing the spring painting wasn’t even the best work of art here. There were a lot more I hadn’t even taken my time to appreciate. “You mean you drew all of this?”
Christ. She wasn’t just a sexy woman with a pretty face. She was a beauty with brains. Talented.
She nodded. “Yes. I’m the artist who just signed a deal with Vincent Russo.”
My smile dropped, my heart suddenly racing. “Vincent Russo? Do you have any idea who he is?”
“Sure. He’s one of the best businessmen in North America, second to your brother.”
“And?”
She shrugged. “And I’m happy I was able to pull the deal off.”
So, she had no idea who he really was? “What is this deal about?”
“You’re prying into my business.” She pauses and huffs. “Vincent owns several charity organizations for people who can’t afford to visit galleries. He simply buys from me at high-value for his charity organizations, selling all rights to him although the credits remain mine.”
I rubbed my beard. “Is that so?” Just like my brothers said, this was another money laundering scheme by Vincent. What I could not tell is if Mariana was aware of this.
“I’ve told you already, unless you’re here to interrogate me then I suggest you finish up your champagne and leave.”
“Not yet, I’m too interested in the deal you signed off with Vincent to do that.” I inched closer to her. “Be careful with Vincent, everything isn’t as it seems.”
“It’s you I should be careful with, Vlad. You’re everything you appear to be.”
“And what is that?”
She swallowed, breathing hard. “Bad, wicked, cruel, brutal, and everything I should hate.”
“And do you hate me?”
“Yes.” She swallowed again, her chest heaving. “I hate you so much my entire body is on fire just looking at you.”
I smirked. “Sounds like you want me to fuck you again.”
