“I’ve spent plenty of time with Jade at work. She can handle anything. I hope Andie grows up to be just like her.”

“You do?”

“A strong-willed, smart, independent woman who takes no shit from anyone? Of course I want that for her.”

For some reason that makes me happy. I turn in his arms and kiss his lips. “Thank you.”

I wiggle a little, but he doesn’t budge, maintaining a tight hold. “Beckett, I need to go.”

“I know. I wish I could come, but there’s no one here for Andie.”

“She wants me in the room with them. You’d be alone in the waiting room anyway.”

“As soon as she’s off to school, I’ll be there.”

“Okay.”

He finally releases me. I quickly get dressed and head to the hospital.

When I arrive, they’re already in a room. I walk in and Jade breathes a sigh of relief. “Thank god.” She points to Collin. “Get him out of here. He’s driving me nuts.”

I roll my eyes at her. “He’s the father. He’s staying.”

“Ugh. I should have slept around more so we couldn’t be sure he’s the father.”

The nurse looks at her like she’s crazy. Not everyone understands my daughter’s sense of humor.

Collin laughs though. And that’s why he’s perfect for her.

He grabs her face and kisses her. “Sorry, you’re stuck with me. Forever. Do you need me to rub your back? That’s what Reagan needed.”

“No.”

“Your belly? That’s what Skylar needed.”

“No.”

The nurse narrows her eyes at him. “How many women have you impregnated?”

He points to Jade. “This is my first baby mama…” He winks. “That I know of.”

EIGHT HOURS LATER

Jade is now screaming. Collin is struggling watching her in so much pain.

The machine beeps letting us know another contraction is coming. We each grab a hand.

The doctor says, “One more hard push, Jade. I see the head.”

Jade pushes and screams. She manages to grit out, “I’m not going through this again. We’re only doing anal from now on.”

Collin smiles. “I have no problem with that.”

I’m confident the two of them have permanently scarred the doctors andnurses today.

We start to hear a baby cry. The doctor pulls it out and announces, “It’s a boy.”

He holds him up and then places him on Jade’s chest. This is surreal. Watching the exact moment your daughter becomes a mother is like nothing you can ever imagine. I feel my heart pounding deep and hard in my chest.
