“I would really like to be your girlfriend, Spencer.”
I sit back.
Finally.Relief.
I realize this is all I’ve ever wanted when I first saw this girl in my lecture hall; I’ve just been too dumb to get past my own misgivings.
And it makes the next words even easier to say.
“Good, because I love you, Olivia.”
And now she’s really shocked.
“What are you saying, Spencer?” she asks me, blinking those pretty eyes of hers.
“It’s the truth,” I reply. “I’ve loved you before I even met you when you were just a dream.”
She looks completely taken aback.
For once in my life, I am nervous. All my happiness hinges on this girl right here.
“This is all so crazy,” Olivia whispers, shaking her head. “But I love you too, Spencer.”
That’s it.
It’s all I’ve ever wanted.
My dreams of Miss Weldon have finally stopped, replaced by the ordinary, mundane, run-of-the-mill scrambles of regular slumber.
And I would not have it any other way.
There is no longer any need for dream girls.
Not when my perfect woman is real and flesh and blood andmine.
And I am hers.
I’ll never know if our first meeting in the pouring rain was destined fate or pure chance or something else entirely, but I do know that this is the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with.
“You are all I need,” I say to the impossible girl.
Olivia’s eyes widen. “You are literally my dream man,” she whispers.
I shake my head. “Your dream man? You have absolutelynoidea. You are my dream girl, Miss Weldon.”

OLIVIA
My university professorlovesme.
I think it’s fair to say I was not expecting that at all when the man sat me down to tell me something. But in any case, I am over the freaking moon.
My university professor loves me.
Luke was wrong. I’m not too plain for a boy. Love can exist for a girl like me.
I once felt that the love I’ve read about in books wasn’t for a girl in my shoes, but with my very own professor, I can see that it is totally real.
