"I'm sorry, could you repeat what you want me to do?" I asked him sweetly.
He smirked, "Are you okay leading the troops after the meeting?"
I knew my eyebrows were pushed almost to my hairline as I responded. "Wait. You wantmeto lead a group of people. In war. Me? Are you sure that's what you want?"
Eros smiled wildly, the smile that I loved. The smile made me squirm.
"Yes, I’m sure."
I nodded. "Very well then. I will."
He turned to the group, "That takes care of Leo and the Fae. Let's keep communication to a minimum and if needed we will meet up."
Did I hear him correctly? I would lead a troop against… Leo?
The rest of the group walked out of the office and out of the house. Leaving Eros and I alone, somehow, I gravitated to the window that I was staring out of earlier. Watching and waiting for the birds to return, so they could clarify what they meant.
"They are, you know." Eros's voice startled me as I jumped slightly and turned around.
"What are you talking about?" I questioned him with a curious expression.
He stepped closer to me and his eyes darted out of the window at the birds that now sat perched on the same branch.
"They are all waiting for you. Everyone is waiting for you."
I tilted my head up and said, "I'm not sure I know what you mean by that."
He looked down at me and stared into my eyes with a softened gaze. "You don't know yet. But you will. Soon."
Chapter 24
Iheard Eros shuffling through a bag of clothes looking for something. I stood at his door with his back facing me and glanced around his room. It was cold, plain, no paintings, and no sign of life, except for him.
"What are you looking for?" I asked him. He didn't dare turn around, he just kept looking through the bag.
"None of your business, Clara. Get out of my room," he seethed at me and I jolted back slightly at the bite in his words.
I stepped into his room because my specialty is pissing him off and enjoying it.
He straightened his spine and turned around facing me. "You are a terrible listener," he scoffed, returning back to searching for this mystery item.
I took another step closer to him. "I'm a great listener. I'm just not a good follower of instructions, but you know this already. Remember… the nipples?"
He stopped his movement. Within a blink, he was standing directly in front of me as I was pushed against his bedroom wall.I gasped because he moved so quickly. My eyes traveled to his mouth and to the slight glint of fangs that shone this close to him.
"You're curious. Aren't you?" He took another step into me pressing his chest into mine. I could feel his arousal pushed against my stomach and my body reacted. I couldn't help it.
He smirked. "Why don't you ask me what you're curious about? I know you want to." His breath coasted across my skin causing chills to spread over my skin.
My eyes flicked up to his. "Fine." I took another breath breathing in his teakwood scent. That damn scent would be the death of me.
"Since you are VampryeandAngel, what does that mean for you to eat? To consume?"
He pressed his chest into me a little more, causing me to have my head pinned tilted up at his face as he towered over me.
"I live off of everything that you do. I don'tneedblood to survive. However, I do enjoy it. It gives me a sense of...frenzy."
I noticed I was biting my lip as he was talking and his eyes darted straight there. He closed the space between us leaving his mouth lingering right above mine.
