“I’ll see you around, Adalyn.” I turned and headed toward the front door.

“Colin?”

“Yeah?” I turned around, and her mouth smashed into mine.

To feel her soft lips on mine again felt all too good. A trail of clothes lay on the floor before we made it up to the bedroom. Hovering over her, I dipped my finger inside as the warmth of her overtook me. Our lips meshed, and our tongues excitedly met again. Subtle moans escaped her as she came, and I couldn’t control myself. My tongue slid across her chest, and my mouth suckled her beautiful breasts before moving down to her sweet spot. I wanted to taste every inch of her and wouldn’t waste any time doing it. Her body was pure perfection and deserved all the attention I could give it. As my tongue circled around her, she swelled. Her body shook as a pleasurable moan erupted from her.

“Shit,” I said.

“What’s wrong?”

“The condom is in my wallet downstairs.”

“It’s fine, Colin. I’m not ovulating. I promise.”

“Are you sure?” I hovered over her and stared into her eyes.

“I’m positive.”

I pushed inside as the warmth enveloped my cock. Soft moans fell from my lips as I took in the feeling. Making love to her without a condom took everything to a whole new level. Her nails dug into my back as I thrust in and out of her, and our lips locked into a passionate kiss. One last thrust and we both came at the same time. Thank God the windows were closed, or Jerry and Annie would have heard what was going on. I dropped my body on hers and buried my face into the side of her neck while our hearts calmed. Before climbing off, I kissed her lips. I knew she didn’t want me to stay, and I was sure she regretted having sex with me again, so I would make it easy on her.

“I’m going to head out.” I stood up and grabbed my underwear from the floor.

“Okay,” she spoke as she climbed out of bed and slipped on her robe.

I went downstairs, grabbed the rest of my clothes, and put them on.

“Enjoy the rest of your evening.” I held her chin in my hand as I softly kissed her forehead.

“You too. Thanks again for the pizza. It was the best.” A beautiful smile crossed her lips.

“I’ll tell Marcus you said so.” I winked.

I climbed into my truck and backed out of the driveway. I wasn’t so sure how long I could keep doing this.

CHAPTER19

Adalyn

I closed the door, turned around, and slowly slid down it as I buried my face in my hands. As much as I didn’t want to admit it, I was falling for him, which scared me. My wound was still open and nowhere near healed. The nightmares that plagued my nights about Darren’s lies stayed with me for hours, even after I was awake.

I poured myself a glass of wine and took it upstairs. Standing in my bedroom doorway, I stared at the crumpled sheets. Shaking my head, I set my glass on the nightstand, fixed the bed, and climbed in. Grabbing my Kindle, I opened the first page of a self-help book I downloaded and read for a bit before falling asleep.

Iput the finishing touches on the guestrooms before my family and friends arrived by placing a vase of fresh flowers on each dresser, making the rooms cozier than they already were. My mother and Hannah would arrive first in the early afternoon, and Luis and Alfred would arrive in the evening.

It was nine o’clock in the morning when I stepped into Rooster’s, a cozy coffeehouse just down the street from the art gallery. The blend of coffee they offered was probably the best I’d ever had. Delilah’s husband, who passed away a couple of years ago, created the blend himself—a blend he spent five years perfecting.

“Morning, Addy.” Delilah smiled from behind the counter. “Your usual?”

“Morning, Delilah. “Yes. You know how much I love it.” She grinned.

“Tomorrow night is the big night. Are you nervous, excited, or a little of both?”

“A little of both. I can’t believe it’s finally happening.”

“It’ll do great. Trust me. Not only do we folks here love art, but the tourists do as well. In fact, a few tourists were here yesterday, and I overheard them talking about it. One woman said she was looking through the window and saw a painting she wants to buy and take back home with her.”
