“Ham, green pepper, and mushrooms?” he asked.
“Sounds delicious.”
“Okay. I’ll meet you back at your place.”
“I’m just going to take some pictures of the sign before heading home so I can show my mom, Hannah, Luis, and Alfred.”
“Alright. I’ll see you soon.”

After climbing into my truck, I called Marcus at the bar and ordered one large pizza to go. Seeing Adalyn so overjoyed about her sign made me happy. Now, I had to tell Katherine I needed to cancel my plans with her and Scott for tonight.
Walking into the bar, I found Katherine in the office, sitting behind her desk.
“Hey.” She smiled.
“Hey. Listen. I have to cancel for tonight.”
“Why?” Her brows furrowed.
“Adalyn asked me to celebrate with her tonight, and I couldn’t turn her down.”
“Celebrate what?”
“Her sign was hung above the gallery today. She said it wasn’t supposed to be there until tomorrow, so she was really excited about it. I’m having Marcus make a pizza for us and bringing it to her house.”
“Okay.” Katherine smiled. “That’s a good enough excuse for me. Go have fun.”
“Thanks.” I smiled as I kissed her cheek.
As I was walking out of the office, she called my name.
“Yeah?” I stopped and turned around.
“I’m really happy to see you so happy.” She smiled. “It’s been far too long, my brother.”
“Thanks, Katherine. I’ll talk to you later.”
I grabbed the pizza Marcus made and walked out of the bar. As I was driving to Adalyn’s, a text message from her came through.
“The door is unlocked. Just walk in.”
I smiled because spending tonight with her was exactly what I needed. I was giving her space, and it was slowly killing me.
I stepped onto the porch and opened the door.
“I bring the best pizza in town.” I smiled as I walked into the kitchen.
“It smells so good.” She reached into the refrigerator and pulled out two bottles of beer.
Just as we sat down at the table with our beer and pizza, there was a knock on the door.
“I wonder who that could be.” Adalyn’s brows furrowed.
“You stay put. I’ll go see who it is.” I stood up from my seat. “Hey, Jerry.”
