“Before you leave, how about one last drink out on the deck? It’s a beautiful night,” she said.

“I’d like that.” The corners of my mouth curved upward.

Adalyn grabbed two beers from the refrigerator and handed me one.

“I saw you drinking this at Rosie’s, so I thought I’d keep some in the fridge in case you come over to fix anything else.” She grinned.

“Has anyone ever told you that you are one awesome friend?” I asked.

“I may have been told that a few times.” She let out a beautiful laugh.

We stepped out the sliding door, took a seat on the chairs, and stared out at the water that glistened from the light of the moon. The slightly cool night air was perfect, as were the sounds of the waves that moved back and forth against the shore.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this scenery,” Adalyn said as she brought the beer bottle to her lips.

“I’ve lived here my whole life, and I feel like I’m seeing it for the first time every day.” I smiled as I glanced over at her.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever felt as much peace since I moved here. Don’t get me wrong, I love New York. It’s where I grew up. But it’s noisy, busy and everyone is always in a rush. Did I mention how crowded it is?” She smirked.

“I’ve never been to New York,” I said.

“What? Never?”

“Nope. I never really desired to go there because of how you just described it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to visiting it someday. I guess I just never had a reason to.”

“New York isn’t for everyone,” she said. “But who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy it if you get there someday. You could see a show on Broadway, walk around Times Square, and see the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and the museums. The list goes on and on. Oh, and I forgot to mention Central Park.” The corners of her mouth curved upward.

“Well then, maybe one day we can go, and you can be my tour guide.”

CHAPTER15

Adalyn

My heart began to race when Colin said that.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Yeah. I’m fine. It’s been a long day. I guess I’m a little sleepy.”

“Then I should go. I need to run by the bar and ensure my staff didn’t burn it down.”

I watched him pick up his toolbox and head to the door when we stepped inside the house.

“Thank you again for dinner and putting in the garbage disposal,” I said.

“You’re welcome, Adalyn. I had a really nice time tonight.”

“Me too.” I leaned in and softly kissed his cheek.

His beautiful eyes stared into mine, and at that moment, something happened. I didn’t want him to leave. He brought his hand up to my cheek and softly stroked it.

“You’re so beautiful, Adalyn Richards. So beautiful,” he whispered.

Leaning in, our lips met, and our tongues danced with delight. I didn’t want this to happen, but I couldn’t stop it. I was too wrapped up in his scent, soft lips, and how his hands roamed up and down my sides. It had been a long time since I’d had sex, and my body craved him.

I gripped the bottom of his shirt and pulled it over his head, tossing it to the floor.

“Are you sure?” Colin asked.
