I was caught. Bruce saw right through me and cut me off before I could do anything else. As for Tabitha…Honestly, I would have put up a little fight before giving up, but she was docile.

While he forcefully made her nestle against his chest, she remained still, her eyes open in shock. I could have sworn I could hear her heartbeat, although we were six feet apart. She had finally fallen in love, and I was willing to bet she had yet to accept the terms.

“Fine, I give up,” I sighed, raising both arms in defense. “You caught me there.”

“You just have a terrible way of hiding it,” Bruce remarked, still keeping me at a distance with his eyes.

“I’ll take that as a valuable lesson,” I said, then turned to Tabitha. “I guess we’ll see each other soon?”

Bruce furrowed his brows.

“Well, not immediately,” I quickly corrected. “Whenever you feel the need to. Or whenever you’re free. You can bring Bruce.”

“Thank you, Jerry,” she said as Bruce finally released her.

I left the office, letting out a sigh of relief. I looked forward to those two love stories.

Tabitha

I needed to send Jerry a check later. His performance, right to the end, was absolutely spectacular.

Now for the results.

I felt a sharp pain in my head. Bruce was pulling on my ponytail.

“Ow, it hurts,” I complained; it only hurt at first, then I barely felt a thing.

“What was that all about?” he growled. I could feel his rage simmering.

I was expecting him to pout, and then I’d console him or something. But I forgot this was Bruce, not the other men I was used to.

“You think I'm bothered about your little pain?” he asked as he pulled my hair harder.

“You should be bothered,” I replied. “I'm your boss, remember?”

“So, your plan was to make me feel insecure or jealous?” he asked, ignoring my complaints.

“No, that was not the plan at all,” I quickly defended.

“You have really been a bad girl today,” he growled.

The moment he said those words, my legs buckled.

Is this how everyone else felt when I was in charge of them?

“I really need to make you pay for this, don't I?” he asked.

“No…” I whimpered, hoping he would let me go while, at the same time, hoping he didn't.

“You're right, I should,” he said. “You don't have to worry about it. I'll make sure you don't repeat the same actions today.”

I knew I was in trouble.

“Take everything off,” he commanded.

Usually, I would jump and obey his request, but it wasn't so easy this time. We were still in the hospital, and there was no telling when anyone else could walk in.
