“You’re a hungry little girl.”

“You have no idea.”

“Then I’ll give you everything you need by taking everything I want.” He slowly pushed inside once again. This time, my muscles reacted differently.

“Do you always get what you want?”

“Yes.” The one-word admittance was like a controlled burn, although there was nothing about what we shared that could be considered controllable.

The term possession continued to drift into the back of my mind, the connotation of what that meant not lost on me. He was so masculine that the feel of his tense muscles against my back and legs stole what was left of my breath. He took his time fucking me, claiming my asshole as he’d done to my mouth and pussy. The rocking motion as we moved together was just as spine tingling as everything else that had occurred, maybe more so.

It was as if our bodies had been made to fit together perfectly, as if destiny and fate had intervened. Maybe I was playing the fool, which was something I’d promised myself I’d never do.

He lowered his head, nuzzling against my neck, his whisper harsh. “No man will ever touch you again.” It was as if repeating it would make it true.

In those fleeting seconds as he continued pumping deep inside, the moment when I sensed he was close to coming, his body tensing ever more, I was driven into wondering whether the man could ever love again.

There was a hardness about him, a coolness that indicated he’d been hurt before as his body spasmed, his cock pulsing inside my tight asshole throbbing even more.

Even as he erupted, filling me with his seed, my thoughts remained on who’d been the one to crush his spirit in its entirety.

For about a million reasons, I shouldn’t care and should protect myself from this bold, dangerous man, refusing to be saddened by the knowledge he’d once again shut down, but I was. And I knew. As soon as I was deemed safe, he would disappear from my life forever.

Because that was the only thing he could do.

CHAPTER 18

Francois

“Alturo. I know exactly who you’re talking about,” Arman said with a growl in his voice. “Let me make some calls. You’re certain your informant was correct.”

There was a stiffness to my brother’s reaction that I found curious, although we were both very much on edge. For good reason.

“The guy wasn’t lying to me, if that’s what you’re asking. Whether or not he was provided with a line of shit, I can’t be certain.”

He exhaled. “It might take some time, but I’ll see what I can find out.”

“Yeah. Okay. Remember the race is around the corner.”

“You’re still going?”

I’d thought about bagging it but with Brandon out of the country, business had to continue. “At this point. Did you find out anything about Brandon’s activities?”

“No red flags so far. However, Maddox is still digging.”

I drummed my fingers on my desk. A strange sense of knowing remained just out of reach, as if I knew the end to the tragic story but couldn’t face it yet. Perhaps I’d have Rocco do some digging as well. “Let me know what you find, brother.”

“Will do. Don’t take any unnecessary chances.”

“What’s a reward without a risk.” He laughed from the other end of the phone before ending the call. I immediately dialed Rocco.

“What’s up, boss? It’s late,” Rocco said, yawning.

“Yeah, I know. No rest for the weary. I need you to track down everything Brandon has been involved in. Every connection he’d made and find out who he’s meeting in Germany.”

“Not a problem but I thought your brother was handling that.”

“As my brother has told me more than once. No stone unturned.”
