“You find out what happened with Kylie?” Jed yelled from the table.

He waited until he was standing at the end of the table to answer. “Taylor.” That’s all he needed to say.

“What the fuck?”

“That bitch is back?”

“Oh, it gets better. She showed up at Tuck’s doorstep. Pregnant. While Kylie was there.” Race filled them in.

“No. Fucking. Way. And she’s saying it’s his?” Jed couldn’t believe it. He was pissed on Tuck’s behalf.

“Tuck says from what she’s telling him, the timing could work. He’s going to get her to a doctor and see what’s what,” Race said.

“So Kylie’s in there crying her eyes out because of fucking Taylor?” Darren asked no one in particular. “Fucking shit.”

“Exactly,” Race agreed. “He says Taylor’s going to be staying with him until he finds out one way or the other.”

“Why doesn’t she stay at her parents’ place?” Jackson asked.

“She’s telling him that her parents know about the baby and want nothing to do with her.”

“That doesn’t sound right,” Dagger stated.

Race shoved his hands in his pockets. “Tuck also said that he and Kylie had just agreed to see where things would go between them when the bitch showed up. That’s why Kylie’s crying like her heart has been torn out.”

“So what’s going to happen with Kylie? She can’t stay with Tuck. She can’t stay with her sister. She can’t live on that couch.” Darren stood with his arms crossed over his chest, a scowl on his face not even his beard could hide.

“Tuck said to give her his room.” Race rocked back on his heels. “Looks like it’s time to call in the old ladies.”

After having a good cry and a nap that lasted longer than she would have liked, Kylie had been awakened by her ringing phone. She checked caller I.D. and saw that it was Tuck. She wasn’t sure she wanted to talk to him yet because deep down, her gut told her things with Tuck had ended before they could get started. He hadn’t said as much yet, but she wasn’t stupid. Treating this call like ripping off a bandaid, she answered. “Hello?”

“Hey, Kylie,” Tuck’s voice was soft and he sounded exhausted.

She had no idea if asking about Taylor was any of her business or not, so she waited him out. He was the one who called her. She also wasn’t sure she wanted to know how things went.

“Are you doing okay?” he asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” she lied. She didn’t want Tuck to be with her out of guilt because she was sure he was getting enough of that from Taylor.

“I talked to Taylor. From what she’s telling me, there’s a chance the baby could be mine.”

Okay, he’d said earlier depending on the timing, it could be his.

“She says her parents know she’s pregnant, but won’t have anything to do with her. She has nowhere to go, no money, no job. So, for now, she’s going to be staying here in my guest room.” He finished the last part on a rush.

She closed her eyes. She’d known this was going to be the outcome as soon as Taylor walked in and said she was pregnant with Tuck’s baby.

“Okay.”

“I’m going to get her to a doctor as soon as I can to confirm the timeline.” He was silent for a moment, before he said, “This doesn’t have to be the end of you and me. I still want us to be together.”

It was her turn to be quiet for a moment. “How is that supposed to work? Taylor lives with you and I come visit or possibly sleep over once in a while? We all have dinner and watch a movie together?” She was being bitchy, but she couldn’t help it. He had no idea how much Taylor messed with her in school.

“We could be together at the clubhouse,” he threw out hopefully.

“And, what? Just give up your home to Taylor? Or split your time between the two of us?” The headache she’d started to get from her crying jag was quickly getting stronger the longer she talked to Tuck about Taylor.

“If I have to. I don’t want to lose you when I’ve just gotten you.”
