Kylie got flustered at Race’s praise, her cheeks flushed and she worried her bottom lip. She even fidgeted in her chair, which Tuck thought was cute.

Race stood, signaling they were done there. Jed rose from his seat ready to follow him out.

“We’re outta here. Let me know when you’ve got a program for us and I’ll get you access to our businesses.” Race started for the door, everyone following behind him. “Let me know when the money runs out, too.”

“Okay.”

“I’m serious, Kylie. When it runs out let me know. I realize you don’t work a regular nine-to-five day. Tuck says once you get into something, everything else falls to the wayside. So if you work fourteen, sixteen-hour days and you run out tomorrow, the next day or next week, let me know.” Race watched her to see if she was getting him. “Got it?”

“Yes. Got it.” She nodded her head.

Race opened the door, letting himself and Jed out. Tuck stopped in front of Kylie. “Sorry I almost beat your door down.” He thought he was doing a pretty good job fighting the grin that was sure to piss her off.

She smiled wryly in response, shaking her head slowly and rolling her eyes. “You’re an idiot.”

“An idiot is better than some things you could have called me.” He waited a beat, suddenly finding himself wanting to stay, but knowing he needed to go. “See ya, Kylie Jo.”

Her smile brightened and she rolled her eyes. “’Bye. And thanks for feeding me.”

The reply that he had something else he’d like to feed her popped into his head and he knew it was time to go. He followed the others out the door before he could put voice to his thoughts. He waved goodbye to her as he drove off and wondered how he could have let them drift so far apart. He made a vow to himself that he would put in more of an effort to spend time with her. He really did miss having her in his life.

It was now Wednesday, almost a week later, and Officer Miner should be showing up anytime. From the time stamp on the video Kylie pulled up she surmised that given this appeared to be an ongoing routine kind of rendezvous, it stood to reason that the couple would meet up around the same time every week also.

Tuck, Race, Jackson and Jed sat in Race’s truck in the parking lot across the street from the Red Oak Inn. The tinted windows hid their identities from anyone driving by.

His phone dinged, alerting him to a message. He checked his phone, saw it was from Taylor and swore under his breath. Why hadn’t he blocked her number before now?

“That the bitch?” Jed sat in the backseat with him as they waited.

“Yeah.”

“What does she want? She keeps texting you over and over. If you wanted to speak with her, you’d have answered by now. Girl needs to take a hint.” Jed shook his head. He never was fond of Taylor, but he tolerated her because Tuck thought himself in love with her. Now that they’d been broken up for a while, everyone was slowly coming forth with their dislike of her.

He couldn’t believe he ever thought he’d end up married to her at one time. It must have been an idea his little head came up with because if he’d been thinking clearly with his brain, he would have seen there was no future there. As it turned out, she stuck with him through the summer after graduation, then left thinking she’d find bigger and better. He wasn’t sure if she’d ever found it or not and frankly, didn’t give a shit. Further thoughts of Taylor the Tornado were brought to a screeching halt as Jackson spotted him.

“Here he comes.” Jackson tipped his head toward Miner’s car. As they watched, Miner went inside to the front desk and returned with a key. He pulled his car down to park in front of his assigned room and got out. He did a quick glance around the area before letting himself inside. The lights came on and they watched him stand in front of the window, pulling the curtains closed. Ten minutes later another car pulled into the lot, parking next to Miner’s car. A redheaded woman got out of the car, went straight to the room and knocked on the door. Miner immediately opened the door, reached out, grabbed her arm and pulled her inside. He had her in a lip lock before the door even closed.

The woman looked to be in her thirties, slim and dressed in white slacks and a dark blouse with silver sandals. Her hair was down and flowing around her shoulders. The way she carried herself left Tuck inclined to believe she came from money. So, what was a high-class broad doing with a civil servant working for a less than stellar salary?

So far everything Kylie had told them was correct. Not that Tuck had ever doubted her.

“Let’s give it another fifteen minutes, then we’ll join the party,” Race instructed.

Race started his truck and drove across the street, parking on the other side of Miner’s vehicle. “Show time.”

Everyone piled out and moved toward Miner’s room. Race stopped at the window, saw a slit in the curtains and chuckled. “Tuck, get us in there.”

He could have kicked the door in, but that might’ve caused one of the other guests to call the police, or the front desk at the very least. He dropped to his haunches, pulled out his lock picks and went to work. As soon as he popped up, Jed shoved the door open, allowing it to bounce off the wall. Everyone swiftly entered the room with Jackson closing the door behind him. The woman screamed and Miner’s head jerked to the door.

Miner was currently balls deep in his companion’s pussy, her legs wrapped around his waist. Jed immediately grabbed his phone and started videotaping. Insurance that the deputy would listen to what Race had to say and heed his warning.

“Why don’t you pull your dick out and let the woman get dressed?” Race suggested. Neither one made a move. He sighed and rolled his eyes. “Darlin’. Shut the fuck up and get dressed,” he suggested again. The woman’s eyes were huge, her face was pale, and much to Race’s annoyance, she kept screaming.

“Now!” he barked, causing AnneMarie to jerk in surprise. Her mouth immediately snapped shut, cutting off the shrill noise she’d been making.

Jed approached the bed and held the camera up in front of the woman’s face. “Smile, darlin’. You’re about to be famous.”

He snapped a few pictures then turned his camera on Officer Miner. “You, too, Romeo.” Neither one smiled.
