“If you think about it, every old lady has been under attack due to their association with the club. Might not be a bad idea to have a backup plan,” Jed threw out there.

Some of the brothers appeared to be giving the idea some thought, which surprised Tuck. He would have thought they would have immediately said the idea was ridiculous and no one was touching their old lady.

“So, if we did something like this, the brother and his old lady wouldn’t have to have sex with the backup brother?” Race asked.

“Not unless that was something they both wanted,” Tuck replied. He could see the wheels turning in everyone’s minds. Weighing the pros and cons of having an appointed backup in case they met with an early demise.

“Who would decide which brother would be backup for which brother?” Jackson asked.

“Everyone would have to decide for themselves who they think their old lady would be most comfortable with. Who she might care for or be closer to,” Tuck tried to explain.

“What happens when we run out of single men?” Trick asked.

“You guys are missing the point.” Jed set his bottle down and crossed his arms, leaning on the table. “The point isn’t looking for someone your old lady would want to fuck with you or after you’re gone. It’s to find someone who would be there for her to help out with shit around the house or with the kids or getting bills paid. Things like that. If you guys want to have an occasional threesome, cool. If you don’t, also cool.” When no one spoke up, he went on. “As for running out of single men? Eventually, God willing, all of us will have an old lady at some point and with that there will be some of them that aren’t too keen on sharing their old man with another woman. Understandable and normal. So, this whole sex and sharing old ladies shouldn’t factor into your decision. And not everyone would have to do it.”

Tucker thought everything Jed said made sense.

“Was that the kind of thing you were thinking about?” Race asked Tuck.

“Yeah. That’s what I’ve been thinking about.” He wasn’t afraid to admit that he wouldn’t mind knowing someone specific would have his back with Kylie. With her being pregnant, he was even more terrified that something could happen to her.

“Would you pick a backup?” Trick asked Jed.

Jed rubbed his jaw and seemed to think about it for a moment. “I think with the way we live our lives, I would want to know there was someone to get my old lady through the mess left behind if I were gone. No woman should ever have to stand alone.”

For a patch party, Tuck thought things had gotten decidedly heavy. He hadn’t meant to bring everyone down, but he’d really needed their opinions on the matter to help him make up his mind.

“Come to the bar. We got a cake for Lance.” Tori waved for the brothers to join the newest brother added to their ranks for some shots and cake.

Everyone got up and made their way to the bar where Race picked up a shot glass, gave a speech welcoming Lance into the family with some embarrassing recounts of things he’d done as a prospect thrown in much to the delight of everyone, including a red-faced Lance. The cake Tori and the girls got Lance was of a naked woman from tits to pussy, complete with nipples and pussy hair made of coconut.

“You get the first bite, Lance!” Lynette shouted.

Of course, like any man, Lance buried his face in the coconut pussy to the hoots and hollers of everyone. He was grinning like an idiot when he came up and had icing all over his face. It was on the end of his nose, all around his cheeks and his chin. He was having the time of his life and Tuck was happy for him.

His phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw that he had a voicemail from Taylor. He walked toward the back hall and played the message. With a finger in his opposite ear to muffle the noise, he listened. “Tuck! Where are you? My water broke and I need to go to the hospital. I’m in labor, damn it!” He pulled the phone from his ear and looked at it in shock.

“What is it?” Darren asked. He had his arm slung around Lynette’s shoulders, no doubt heading to his room for a little fun.

“Taylor left a voicemail. She said her water broke and she’s in labor. I have to go get her and take her to the hospital. Can you be with Kylie when the old ladies get home? I don’t know how long this labor and delivery thing might last.”

“Fucking finally,” Darren said. “And I’ve got Kylie. Go get that bitch out of your life once and for all.”

Tuck checked the time on his phone. “You’re probably good for another couple of hours before the old ladies get tired and come home.”

“Go. I got it.”

“Thanks.” He patted Darren on the shoulder and hurried out to his bike. Today was the day Taylor’s whole charade fell apart.

“Stop! Stop! You’re going to make me pee my pants!” Bellamy laughed and wiped tears from her eyes, her hand resting on her baby bump.

Kylie thought it was the cutest, most perfectly round bump she’d ever seen. It amazed her that from the back you couldn’t even tell she was pregnant and was due in three and a half months. But, when she turned to the side, her belly was so perfectly formed it looked like she had a basketball shoved under her shirt. Kylie could only hope she would be that lucky.

Calliope was in the process of telling them all about how she’d left the house one day to bring some of her custom-made jewelry to Bellamy’s shop, Bling Boutique, leaving Jackson in charge of babysitting Harper, their soon to be six-month-old baby girl. While she was gone, Harper had made the biggest mess while eating breakfast. Calliope said she’d reminded him before she left that if he didn’t get her little hands pinned down, their daughter would go bonkers trying to take the spoon away. Apparently, he forgot and oatmeal ended up all over Harper’s face, in her hair and all over him.

Calliope had tears in her eyes as she went on. “He didn’t want me to find out he forgot what I told him about securing Harper’s hands and thought he would give her a quick bath and I’d never know. Obviously, when I saw her in a different outfit I’d know something was up, but Trick came in as I was leaving and witnessed the food fight and the bath incident.”

“The bath incident?” Cami dabbed at her eyes with a napkin. She was a really good friend of Lindsey, Trick’s wife. She and Lindsey’s other friend, Jenna, had come along tonight for a girls’ night out and Kylie had to admit, those two ladies were fun to be around.
