“I’m going to go a little faster.”
“Okay.”
He picked up the pace, and it surprised her that she started to get turned on again. Anais decided to move with him, pushing her hips upward to meet his. Heat flared in his dark eyes, and a low growl came from deep within his chest.
“You feel like heaven around my dick,” he moaned.
She learned quickly, surging with him at each thrust. Little by little, he increased his tempo, until all that reverberated through the bedroom were moans and gasps.
“I’m going to come, baby. Can you come with me?”
“I-I don’t know.”
“Touch yourself.”
Surprise flooded through her. “What?”
“Touch yourself. Play with that pretty little clit.”
Slowly, she reached between them, finding her sensitive bundle of nerves. She wasn’t a stranger to self-pleasure, but doing it in front of him felt strange.
“Are you making yourself feel good?”
“Yes.”
“Are you my mate?”
“Yes!”
“Then watch me come, baby, and then I want to watch you.”
She nodded.
“Ah, fuck!”
He stiffened above her, the corded muscles on the sides of his neck standing out in sharp relief. Just as Ledger released inside her, his fangs descended. His wolf turned his dark eyes to a beautiful amber, then he plunged his fangs into the crook of her neck, marking her as his mate.
That was what threw her over the precipice. Her body went ridged as bliss surged through her whole body. She wanted to mark him, like he marked her, but her wolf remained stubbornly absent.
“It’s okay, baby,” he murmured, placing a kiss on her temple. “We have the rest of our lives.”
Chapter Eight
One moment she was sound asleep, the next she was jolted awake from a searing burning sensation. Fire radiated from the top of her spine, traveling down, engulfing every nerve in agony. This was worse than before. It was instant and debilitating, leaving her unable to move. Leaving her to feel like she was dying.
“Anais!”
Vaguely she heard her name being called, over and over, but she was beyond able to respond. The hitching of her breath stole her words. Tears leaked from her eyes as she writhed in torment. What was wrong with her? Why did she hurt so much?
“Dying…” she managed to gasp.
“No, you arenotdying,” Ledger snarled. “You hear me, Anais? You are not allowed to die.”
There was no way she could talk anymore to answer him. How long she laid in limbo, she couldn’t tell. Her world boiled down to surviving, taking one painful breath after the next. She wanted desperately to ask Ledger for help, but the words wouldn’t come. What did come up was vomit. All over herself, all over him. She couldn’t even drudge up an ounce of embarrassment. What did it matter since she was sure she wouldn’t have a future.
“Anais,” a deep voice commanded. “I’m going to help you, do you hear?”
She thought maybe the person was Alpha Jericho, but she couldn’t be sure. She was rapidly losing the ability to stay conscious. All she wanted to do was slip into darkness to escape the pain.
