“No.” He frowned. “Is everything okay? I know he’s been a bit shaky since the heart attack. But is there something else?”

She opened her mouth, but before any words came out, there was a shout from outside, then a thud.

Erik’s stomach dropped, bile churning in his gut as he took off running through the back door. What he saw made his blood run cold.

His father on the ground, beside the ladder, arm at an odd angle and crimson blood staining the asphalt beneath his head.

Hannah closedher eyes as she leaned into the stretch. Butterfly was her favorite part of yoga class. Her arms were straight on either side, her knees bent with heels touching. And there was a folded towel beneath her back.

It was relaxing, and it also signified they were at the end of the class and she’d made it.

Well, usuallyit was her favorite part of class. Today, Brigid had decided to join her, and the woman had been talking in a whispered voice the entire time. Hannah had shushed her at least a dozen times, and they’d received a lot of angry looks.

Thank God they were almost done.

She wasn’t a huge yoga person, but every so often, when she wanted to move her body in a form that wasn’t running, this was her go-to.

She took in a long breath of air before releasing it.

“I’m not saying I think he should break up with the man, just that he can find someone less…scruffy.”

Hannah’s eyes popped open. Good God, would her friend be quiet for just one minute? She turned her head to the person onher other side to see the woman glaring at them. Hannah gave her an apologetic smile.

When the teacher finally ended the class, Hannah sat up and turned to Brigid. “I am never letting you come to a yoga class with me again.”

Brigid pouted. “Why? Because you like Owen and I don’t?”

“No. Because I don’t like angry glares being directed my way. And yoga ismetime. It’s where I go inward and get both a workout and some meditation at the end.”

“I didn’t stop you from doing any of that.”

She cocked her head, not sure whether Brigid was lying to herself, or she really was that clueless. With a sigh, Hannah pulled on her shoes. “Are you going to work now?”

“Yep. Time to sell some sexy lingerie. Business has been booming lately. Which is a relief because I need the money.”

Hannah frowned, the phone conversation she’d overheard of her friend talking about money coming back to her. “Is everything okay?” The shop had always brought in a fairly consistent income. Had something changed?

Brigid paused, her brows tugging together. “Um, yeah. It’s fine. I’m just used to having two incomes and now need to manage on my own. It’s an adjustment.”

Hannah watched her closely. Brigid’s tell when she was lying was that her eyes darted around while she touched her face. Right now, she was doing both of those things.

“Brigid—”

“You’re not going into work today, are you?” Her words cut through Hannah’s.

Hannah wanted to push, but she knewexactlywhat it was like to struggle with money and not want to talk about it. “No,” she said. “After two days of opens, I’m taking a day off. Although I’ll probably do paperwork at home.”

Home… Would she catch a glimpse of Erik again? Something light fluttered in her belly. She’d been living for those glimpses lately. Every time her eyes fell on him, it was like she forgot how to breathe.

He owned a part of her. And even though what he’d done had fractured them, they hadn’t broken. She had a feeling nothing and no one could kill the love she felt for him.

“Look who it is,” Brigid said brightly.

Hannah was just rising to her feet as Andi stepped through the door into the yoga studio.

Erik’s sister smiled when she saw them and walked over. “Hey, ladies. I haven’t seen you guys here before.”

Hannah chuckled. “I’m a very irregular yoga goer. And Brigid…”
