“Chuck.”

I kept hearing my name being called, but my mind won’t register where the voice is coming from. I’m under too much fog to fight. My body is extremely sore from the impact of the car accident.

“Chuck.”

This time my name is louder, my eyelashes flutter slowly cracking my lids open. Everything is blurry. I close my eye harder before opening them again. I go to rub them only to realize that my hands can’t move. Same with my feet. Panic sets in now. I pull the rope tight feeling the bite around my wrists, shaking the chair side to side, breathing harder with each passing minute. I have made no movement with the rope.

“Chuck, stop. It’s not worth it.”

Oscar's voice finally registers. “Oscar! Oh, my God.” I can only hear his voice. The room we’re in is dark and has an old musty smell to it. “Where are we? Are you okay?”

“I don’t know where we are, Chuck. I remember little after being hit. I’m so sorry, I should’ve seen them coming.” I hear him let out a grunt.

“What’s wrong?”

“I think I broke my arm, but those animals don’t care. They still tied it to the fucking chair.”

“We need to find a way out of here. Any idea how long we’ve been here for?”

He grunts again. “I couldn’t tell you how long. Maybe a few hours at least. Whatever they gave you must’ve really worked. I still don’t know what they want though, besides you of course. No offence, but you're kinda bad luck.”

“Yeah, I guess.” I’m starting to think this too. Especially with these masked assholes. I can’t understand how they found us. I made sure we weren’t followed to dad’s, so where the fuck did, they come from? Unless they got to Oscar’s car. That’s the only thing that comes to mind.

“Did you notice anything out of the normal this morning?”

“What do you mean?”

I try to readjust in my seat, trying to locate where he is. “I’m wondering if they placed a tracker on your car, cause how else did they find us? I made sure no one was following us on the way to dads. Then, out of nowhere, they find us. It makes little sense, and it’s driving me up the wall.”

We remain silent pondering over what I mentioned. If Oscar is quiet, then I know he’s replaying over the morning. Trying to figure out what went wrong. Sitting in the same position is causing a strain on my already sore neck. I must’ve gotten major whiplash from the force of the impact and then being manhandled afterward. I’m rather glad that I was unconscious the entire time.

I couldn’t tell you how long we’ve been sitting down here, but neither one of those dicks’ have come down here. Clearly, none of them care if we die of starvation or dehydration. That might be far-fetched since I’m pretty sure it’s the same day, and you can survive up to three days without water. I’m being a little drama queen, but I’m allowed. I’m fucking tied to a chair. Oscar hasn’t said anything in a while. I’m pretty sure he’s passed out, from his pain.

My eyes have somewhat adjusted to the dark. All I can take in sitting in this position is the wall in front of me. If I look out of the corner of my eye to the left, I can see Oscar’s figure. His head is hung down. This is my fault. He can blame himself all he wants but when it comes down to it. I wanted to leave the fucking house today. I wanted to go visit my dad, knowing I shouldn’t leave the house, Lucca warned me and yet I couldn’t listen. My stubbornness kept getting in the way.

I must’ve dozed off because the crash of the door smashing open woke me. Jolting forwards, I let out a small whimper.

“Oh, look the princess is awake.”

“Don’t touch her you asshole,” Oscar snarled.

I can hear a smack coming to the left followed by a groan. “You son of a bitch!” I yell. I try to get out of my rope, pulling my wrists in every direction, trying to loosen the ropes. “I’ll cut your fucking balls off if you touch him again.”

A deranged laugh riddled my body with a chill. I’ve never been afraid of the dark. It’s what’s hiding in the dark that will get you. Like whoever belongs to that laugh, because it can’t be good and unfortunately, we’re about to find out.

“Well, we meet again don’t we, Charlotte.”

The voice is familiar, except I’ve never met this version. “I don’t think we’ve been introduced. Remind me again who you are?”

He laughs again. “Oh, I knew I would like you when I first seen you. You know I’ve been following you around for a long time.”

I feel his breath on the back of my neck, making me stiffen in my seat. I do not like not being able to see. When his fingers brush my nape, I jerk away from him.

“Fuck off.” I growl. “Hurry and make your point and leave. I can tell we aren’t leaving anytime soon.”

“Do you?” he whispered in my ear.

His hand runs down the length of my arm. I squeeze my eye shut tight thinking of anything other than his hands touching me.
