I hate it here. I want to go home, but Scarlett promises tonight would be thebest night of my life. I highly doubt that. I didn’t want to come to this stupid party, anyway. I let out a heavy breath as we climb the stairs to the Russo house. I wasn’t supposed to be here. My dad is very strict about this rule. I haven’t figured out why though. I only knew of Lucca Russo from school, and I kept my distance from him and his friends. He screamed power and asshole vibes, which I didn’t want anything to do with. I was a nobody, and I liked it that way. I’m pretty sure he didn’t even know I even existed. This was the last year of school, and I couldn’t wait to get away from everyone.

“Stop procrastinating and get your ass inside now, Charlie.” Scarlett drags me up the last step and pushes the door open.

The boom from the music rattles the floor. The entire front room is packed with bodies. I see classmates dancing or more like grinding against each other. I’m dragged towards the kitchen. Don’t get me wrong I love Scarlett. It’s just she can be very forceful. I was fine sitting at home doing nothing. I don’t need to experience a high school party, especially this one. She only came so she could try to sleep with Rett. I highly doubt that would happen. They hate each other with a passion. Unfortunately, you must tolerate each other at least to touch one another.

“Can we hurry so we can go already?” I practically beg Scarlett.

She rolls her eyes at me. “You need to loosen up a little, Charlie. Let’s get you a drink and hit the dance floor.” She walks over to the island and pours us a drink while I stay rooted to my spot by the entrance.

I’m shoved when someone stumbles into me on their way into the kitchen. I almost lose my balance when a hand holds me steady. I swing my head, my eyes land on a pair of dark brown eyes. I’d recognize those eyes anywhere. Swallowing hard, I take in Lucca Russo. He has his hands on my body. I won’t lie. He’s even more gorgeous up close. His chiselled jaw is his strongest feature and the one that gets me every time. A small smirk lands on his lips and I quickly snap out of my daze.

I step out of his grasp. “Thanks.” Moving away from him, I try to find Scar, when he grabs my elbow.

“Don’t I know you or something?” he says, while checking me out. His gaze making me feel warm all over.

I smile at him. Such a cocky asshole. “Or something.” I turn to walk away. If he hasn’t figured out that we go to the same school since junior high that’s his problem. Then again, I haven’t made it my mission to place myself in his circle.

“Wait, seriously. I haven’t seen you at any of these parities before. So, why now?” he calls out.

I turn, roll my eyes at him. I point towards Rett; he follows my direction even he rolls his eyes.

“Cazzo! Those two are going to drive me up the wall.” He blows a breath out and storms off towards Rett.

I take that as my cue to find Scar and head out. I’m over this party. I wasn’t expecting Lucca to talk to me. Trying to find Scar is harder than it looks. She’s been dodging me ever since Lucca dragged Rett away. She’s most likely trying to find a way to get him alone. I head over to the kitchen island to mix myself a drink then walk outside to where it’s quiet. Figured I’ll wait for her. I hate that she drove here and I can’t head home any time I want to.

I’ve been sitting outside for almost an hour. I’m pretty sure Scarlett ditched me. I knew this was a stupid idea. A body suddenly sits next to me. Startling me.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” His deep voice sending goosebumps all over my body.

I turn to look at Lucca. “You didn’t. Wasn’t expecting anyone to sit by me that’s all. Shouldn’t you be with your little posse?”

He cracked up. “Wow, my posse, eh? If you must know, they are currently screwing around.”

“Ew. You didn’t feel like finding some random girl tonight?” I ask, raising my eyebrow.

He shrugs. “I have my eyes on someone.” A greedy look crawled between us.

My lips parted; my breath hitched when he gently cupped my cheek. “What are you doing, Lucca?”

“I’m not sure Charlie. You feel it too, right?” he asks.

Fuck, I feel it all right. I’ve felt nothing like this towards a guy before. Except this is Lucca we’re talking about. All I can do is nod.

“Charlie!” I pull away from Lucca to see Scarlett stumble towards us.

I quickly rush to her. Wrapping my arm around her. “How much did you have to drink?”

“Two, Three.” She shrugs. “I can’t remember,” she slurs.

I look over to Lucca. “I’m sorry. I better take her home.”

He walked over to me. “I’ll see you around,” he whispers in my ear, goosebumps rising on my skin.

I’m slowly walk to my locker, keeping my eyes peeled for Lucca. I don’t like the fact that he hasn’t tried to talk to me since the party. Maybe he was drunk, and he didn’t remember a thing. Scar squealed when I told her he talked to me. She kept on how we should’ve stayed longer, that I’ve should’ve tried to hook up with him. Like that’s my life's goal. I threw it back in her face that she was three sheets to the wind, and I had to leave to take her home. I’m pretty sure the only reason she was that drunk was because of Rett.
