“Camdyn, I told you I would find you,” the monster says as he sits up and grabs my arms.
He pulls me to him and I shudder.
What is he going to do with me now that he found me?
“Please don’t hurt me,” I cry out with my eyes closed.
“Why would I hurt you? I love you baby. Now open those pretty eyes and look at me.”
I open my eyes and see Johnny in front of me, no longer a scary monster, just a hulking man.
“Johnny? How did you get here?” I ask.
“I’m always here baby,” Johnny drawls out.
I cuddle into his arms. Happy to no longer be in the presence of a monster but as I feel his warmth against me, it feels wrong.
Johnny is not the man I want to be comforting me.
I pull away but Johnny grips me tightly.
“Where do you think you’re going, baby? You can’t escape me that easily.”
I elbow him in the ribs and jump off the bed but he catches me.
“You aren’t going anywhere baby!”
Crying, I go limp. Feeling defeated. No matter how hard I try, I can’t escape Johnny Anderson.
“Mommy,” I hear a small voice call out as light fills the doorway.
“Ignore it baby,” Johnny says as he holds me too tightly.
“Mommy, wake up.”
The voice gets louder.
I am filled with a sense of fight and I bite onto Johnny’s arm.
He lets me go with a loud, “Bitch!”
And I ran out of the room toward the light. The light hits me and my eyes are blinded.
Opening my eyes, I see a small figure on top of me with a beaming grin on her face.
“Mommy, you overslept!” Maisey shouts in my face.
Seeing a smiling Maisey helps ease my racing heart from that horrible nightmare.
“I’m sorry Maisey, I was having a bad dream,” I explain as I glance at the clock.
I was supposed to get Maisey up half an hour ago but it seems she beat me to it.
“Was it scary?” Maisey asks.
“The scariest,” I confide in her.
Maisey hugs me tightly.
