Ryan scoffed. “Piece of cake.”

“Come on, guys, let’s go grab some food.” Sam led the way.

Sophie caught Ryan’s eye, smiling, a slow sexy smile just for him. His heart did a flip. Damn he was a lucky son of a bitch. He watched as she left the others and made her way toward him.

“Hey you, everything OK?” She slid an arm around his waist.

Ryan pulled her closer, not giving a damn who was watching.

“It is now you’re in my arms.” He smiled down at her.

“You guys looked a little serious.”

“Ah, just talking shop. And we shouldn’t have been, not today. Today is about family.”

“It’s a pretty great family you got here.”

Ryan grinned. “The best and it’s your family, too. Yours and Chloe’s. And when we have some time, I’m going to take you to meet my other family.”

“I’d like that.” She leaned up, kissing him gently on the lips.

“Do you have any idea how happy you make me?”

“So you don’t think it was a mistake, giving up different beautiful women every night?” Sophie’s tone was teasing.

“No mistake. Urgh, the thought of going back to that kind of life.” He shook his head. “I’m embarrassed by that version of me. There’s only one beautiful woman I want next to me every night and she’s standing right here.” He lowered his head, kissing her. Fuck, it was a shame they were surrounded by people. He wanted to take the kiss a whole lot further. Reluctantly he pulled away, ignoring the cat calls from his teammates. Sophie was blushing, embarrassed.

“You going to have to get used to that. They’re just jealous.” He grinned.

“That’s OK. Revenge will be sweet when they come looking for medical attention.” She grinned back at him and he laughed out loud.

“Now that, I’d like to see.”

TYLER GRABBED ANOTHER beer, trying to decide if he should text Mira again. He liked her, a lot. But she said they should just be friends. They worked together, so she was right. But hell, Mira was a lot of fun. He loved the flirtatious, playful way they interacted. OK, the texting had gotten hot, fuck. Very hot. He’d been so damn hard. When she had to end it because of a call, he’d hit the shower to finish himself off. It had been a long time since he’d had to do that.

He should have reached out to her sooner, he realized now. That was his bad. He’d thought of her plenty of times but, if he was honest, he wasn’t sure if she regretted what happened between them, and he’d been nervous about finding out. Even now, just thinking about her, his cock was stirring. The woman had a serious effect on him. OK, she didn’t want a relationship. That suited him just fine. He had no interest in one either. They were grown-ups; they could have some fun, be professional, and not let it affect their working relationship. It had to be worth a shot. Yeah, she told him to drop it, but maybe he could change her mind. Taking out his phone, he typed.

Tyler: Hey sweetheart.. What you wearing?

He grinned at himself, imagining her face reading it. The response came quick.

Mira: Tyler, you are impossible!

Chuckling, he texted back.

Tyler: But I made you smile, didn’t I.

Mira: Yeah, you did.

Tyler smiled. Oh yeah, he was going to change her mind.
