“Tracer. I’ve been doing some digging into his personal life. Dex said his mother was in the nursing facility, but I dug a little deeper. Did you guys know he had a sister?”

“Yeah. Younger, I think. We used to ask him when he was going to introduce us back in BUDS.” Ryan said, glancing at Dex. “What was her name?”

“Sara, Sandra? She was in school. Something to do with finance if I remember,” Dex said. “We never did meet her.”

“And you won’t. She’s dead. Her name was Sara,” Mira said.

“How?”

“The police report says she was raped and tortured, before being shot in the head. Her body was buried in a shallow grave in Mexico.”

“Are you saying this is Vitelli?” Ryan asked.

“The case is still open. Where it gets interesting is the timing. Tracer started his own security protection firm after leaving the Navy. All above board stuff. Two years ago, Sara went on vacation with a boyfriend to Mexico. She never returned. Right after that, Tracer’s security firm disappeared. Tracer effectively went off grid until his name started getting associated with some questionable people. As you said, Dex, it appeared he’s now a gun for hire for anyone, so long as the price was right.”

“If Tracer believes Vitelli Cartel is behind his sister's death, then he’s going after the big man himself,” Dex said, catching the baseball Tyler threw at him.

“So, he’s making a name for himself in the cartel to get close to Alejandro Vitelli,” Ryan concluded.

“Could be. Alejandro is practically a recluse these days. Stays inside his fortress in Mexico because every agency out there wants him,” Mira said.

“Great work, Mira,” Sam said before standing. “It seems this op is personal to a lot of people.” He glanced at Ryan.

A cellphone rang. Dex pulled his out of his pocket looking at the caller ID. “Anonymous. This could be him.”

Sam nodded and Dex answered, putting it on speaker.

“Dawson.”

“You should have waited. I would have delivered her back to you in one piece.” Tracer’s voice filled the room.

“She’s in one piece,” Dex said.

“Only because I’m a good shot. This is a courtesy call. The deal is done. We are about to board a plane back to Mexico.”

“So, that’s it. After everything they’ve done, you’re letting them leave the country and carry on,” Ryan snapped.

“Ahh, Baxter, I take it I’m on speaker. Hello, Alpha team, or whatever you are calling yourselves these days.”

No one answered him. Tracer continued. “Perez will not be coming back to the US. The sisters are safe, as I promised they would be. Dawson, you need to keep your end of the deal.”

“I never agreed to a deal,” Dex said.

“Then let me put the deal to Sam Harrison. I’m guessing the Captain is there.”

Ryan looked at Sam and then his team. Everyone looked shocked that Tracer knew about Sam. Tracer chuckled through the phone.

“Come on, boys, you underestimate me. Onyx black ops. Makes sense. I can totally see why Alpha team would have been recruited.”

“What’s the deal?” Sam said through gritted teeth.

“Let us go back to Mexico quietly, and let me handle Vitelli.”

“Seems like a very one-sided deal.”

“I’ll give you the buyer and how the weapons are being transported.”

“We have a lead on who the buyer is already.”
