Tracer frowned. The doctor had seen too much. There was no way they would let her go. She could identify all of them. Fuck, Perez would rape her, and then kill her slowly and painfully. Sadistic bastard.

“I’ll take care of it when the time comes,” Tracer said.

“I’m the enforcer. I found her. I’m doing it.”

Tracer didn’t answer him. Let him think that for now.

“I am going to lean on a contact, see if I can find out just what the FBI knows. See if either of you were identified. Where did you get the doctor?” Tracer asked Perez.

“Picked her up in a club downtown. She’s some sort of surgical resident. No one saw me take her.”

Tracer nodded. That was something, at least. He turned back to Luis. “We need to move to another house. You’ve been here too long. People talk.”

Luis nodded, his eyes closing. The meds and pain were obviously getting the better of him. Tracer walked from the room, Perez at his heels.

“Get everyone ready to go. We’ll leave for the new place within the hour.”

He sensed Perez scowling at his back and smiled to himself.

RYAN FOUND A HOTEL just a few minutes away. Sophie didn’t want to eat, but he’d ordered fruit and crackers anyway. They sat together on the bed, the food between them.

“Eat something, Sophie, or are you going to make me feed you?” The image of doing that flooded his brain. Their eyes met. He was about to reach for a strawberry and act out the image, but decided against it. Not the time, dude. He grabbed a cracker instead, holding it out.

“Please? When we find Chloe, she’s going to need her sister, strong and awake.”

Sophie reluctantly took the cracker and nibbled on it. He poured her a glass of wine.

“Ryan, I’m not sitting here drinking wine while my sister is missing.”

“It will help you sleep. Your mind is racing. Have a glass, it will relax you a little, and maybe you’ll doze off.”

She looked like she was going to argue, but then didn’t. Taking the glass from him, she took a sip.

“Why are you here, Ryan? I mean, I’m grateful and everything, but I’m sure you could just hand this over to the FBI now.” She frowned at him, like he was some puzzle she couldn’t work out.

“I’ve told you. You’re family to our team. We look after our own. And I care about you Sophie. I think I’ve made it clear I want to take you out, get to know you.”

“So, this is a date?” She drank more of the wine.

He blinked in surprise, unsure if she was being serious.

“I’m joking,” she said, with a small smile.

Ryan grinned. “Jeez, you had me worried there, thinking I would take advantage of a situation like this. But I assure you, when this is over and Chloe is home safe, we are going on a date.”

“You seem very sure of that. We’ll see.” She picked up a strawberry and bit into it. His cock stood to attention. Fucking hell.

“I would never force you, but in case you hadn’t noticed, I don’t give up too easily.”

“Yeah, I know. Navy SEAL. Always get the job done. I guess that’s kind of your mantra.”

Her comment startled him, but she waved her hand dismissively. “I treat a lot of you guys remember. You don't give up, right?”

Something about the way she was looking at him rattled him, as if she didn’t trust him. Before he could answer she changed the subject.

“Do you really think she’s alive?” she asked quietly, half-hiding her words behind another sip of wine.

“Yes. And I’m not just saying that to make you feel better. A man was shot. He needed care. Chloe’s providing it. You know gunshot wounds take time to heal. They will keep her alive because they need her.”
