I stop, and when I turn around to storm toward her, Wren jumps in front of me, stopping me by placing her hands on my chest.
“Let's just get out of here, baby.”
I pull my enraged stare away from Savannah’s smug face and look down at Wren's angelic face with pleading eyes, luring me in. I give her a small nod before placing my arm around her shoulder and leading her out of the party.
It's silent in the Rolls Royce on the ride home, but I know Wren probably has a thousand questions for me about what the fuck happened tonight, and to be honest, I have a lot of questions myself. What the fuck is Carter doing with Savannah?
I would have killed him there and then if it was anyone else talking to me like that, but the thought of killing another one of Cree’s family members wasn’t sitting right with me. Carter and Savannah being together raises all of my red flags; something is going down. I can feel it and I need to find out what it is.
Suddenly, my phone begins to ring in my jeans pocket, and when I pull it out, I see it's Jasper calling. I answer it and place the phone on my ear.
“Yeah?”
“Bro, one of our cameras has picked up that cop at one of the old spots. The fucker is there right now!”
When Jasper says the words, my brow raises.
“Text me which spot.”
When I end the call, I slide my phone back in my pocket and glance over at Wren, who is already looking at me.
“I'll drop you home, and then I've got to go do something real quick, but I'll be back soon.”
She gives me a hesitant nod before glancing away until I bring her hand to my lips and kiss it.
When her eyes find mine again, I speak against her hand.
“You've probably got a lot to fucking say, but we'll speak about it later, okay?”
When we enter the house, she slowly turns around to face me, and I can see by her expression that she isn't happy with what happened tonight.
I reach for her wrist and pull her into me before holding her close while searching her eyes.
“I'll be back soon, okay?”
“Where are you going?”
I inhale deeply before responding.
“I just need to take care of some business, that's all, but I won't be long.”
I can feel the worry radiating off of her as she purses her lips and looks away.
“Okay.”
I reach my hand beneath her long, thick hair and gently hold the nape of her neck, bringing her gaze back to mine.
“You don't have to worry about anything. I've fucking got this.”
“For how long?”
My brows furrow slightly, and we simply stare at each other before she continues.
“How long until things become worse and I lose you?”
I just look at her, unsure what to say.
“Will it always be this way? Every time we walk out the door, are our lives in danger? Our babies? Cree's?”
