“I’ll fix this, Wren. No matter what it takes.”

After putting Cree to bed for his nap, I head down to the living room. When I notice Arlo is home early from work and is sitting in a relaxed pose on the couch, leaning on his elbow, one leg up, shirtless, I come to a stop in the doorway.

With his eyes focused on the screen of his MacBook, I wet my dry lips with my tongue as I admire him. As soon as he unexpectedly lifts his gaze and looks straight into my eyes without moving a single muscle, my breath catches in my throat.

We stare at each other, our powerful connection immediately sparking through the air, until he decides to break the silence between us.

“Are you going to stand there looking like a pretty fucking statue all day, or will I eventually get my kiss?”

My eyebrow rises, a smirk creeping across my lips as I decide to challenge him.

“Where's my kiss?”

He mimics my eyebrow raise while remaining motionless and his devilish eyes sweep me from head to toe. When he is finished analyzing my sarcastic demeanor, his black eyes collide with mine, and he elevates his chin ever so slightly before responding in an unbothered tone.

“Your hormones got you suddenly all fucked up and brazen, or are you gonna come back to reality and realize who the fuck you're talking to?”

I remain utterly still as he lifts his laptop and calmly sets it to the side of him on the couch before pointing to the floor between his legs.

“Come the fuck here.”

“When I don't react, he does by carefully standing up from the couch, and I take a slow step back with a big smile on my face, excitement swelling inside of me.”

“You don't want to play this game with me, baby; you know how it always ends for you.”

My eyes glisten when he says that and I bite my bottom lip before I respond.

“But the ending is always my favorite part.”

His lips twitch into a small, amused smirk, and he wipes his bottom lip with his thumb while glancing away. Suddenly, without warning, he pounces, and I squeak before whirling around to escape, but as per usual, he is way too fast for me and snatches my wrist, stopping me from going any further.

He pulls me into him, wrapping his strong, tattooed arms around the bottom of my back, drawing me close and I cloak mine around his neck. He smiles before tilting his face close to mine, gazing at my lips while speaking quietly.

“You're lucky I have to be gentle with you now because if I had my way, I would have bent you over this coffee table and rammed my cock so far into your cunt that you would be seeing stars.”

I take my bottom lip between my teeth again, my mind flooding with wild thoughts, before tiptoeing closer to his face.

“I miss the galaxy you used to take me to, baby, but now you take me to the furthest reaches of the universe, and it's the most beautiful place I've ever been.”

He searches deep into my eyes before gently moving his nose over mine, and our lips softly connect, delicately brushing, causing my entire body to tingle and my eyes to gradually close.

“How about that kiss?”

When he says that, he slowly takes my lower lip into his mouth, gently sucking it and dragging it back ever so slightly before releasing it. He places his warm tongue across my lips before capturing them as a soft sigh leaves me.

When I open my mouth to intensify the kiss, he slides his pierced tongue inside, and mine instantly unites with his. It doesn't take long for it to escalate into a powerful, passionate kiss, and we both become lost in it.

Butterflies fill me up as he combs the tips of his fingers through my hair and grasps the sides before carefully tilting my head back so he can slide his tongue in deeper. I sweep my palms down his strong chest, abs, and around his back, feeling as much of his warm, tattooed skin as possible.

When we eventually break off, we both open our heavy eyes and stare at each other, panting ever so slightly.

“That's exactly what I fucking needed.”

I smile at him and he places one last lingering kiss on my lips before scooping me up in his arms and carrying me over to the couch. As he crashes down onto it, I am forced to join him, and I curl up snuggly on his lap.

My eyes shift to his laptop, and the screen is now black, so I turn to look at him.

“Were you working on something?”
