“Well, I looked into the files that I could gain access to, and from what I’ve read here, he personally wanted to be on this case.”

I sigh as I rub my forehead with my palm.

“Anything else?”

“Well, actually, there is something interesting about him. He had a twenty-year-old daughter, his only child, but she died five months ago in New York.”

My brows raise as I lower my hand from my forehead.

“How?”

“Looking at her postmortem, she overdosed on cocaine laced with fentanyl.”

I sigh and close my eyes as I speak through clenched teeth.

“Fuck, he is out for revenge. I can’t believe the FBI would be so fucking stupid to put him in this case.”

“You laced cocaine with fentanyl?”

“Fuck no. My shit is pure, but my dad did have a shady shipment a while back, and I can only think it could have been that. He told me he was discarding it, the motherfuck.”

“Well, now you know.”

I take a big puff of my cigarette before responding.

“Thanks for letting me know. Keep me updated on anything else you find. Speak soon.”

I hang up the phone and shove it into my jacket pocket, take one last drag on my cigarette, and flick it away just as Wren and Jasper appear.

Jasper shakes my hand as he walks by, and I nod when he continues to his car; my gaze then shifts down to Wren, who is standing alongside me.

“Get your pretty ass in the car; I’ve got to make one more call, and we’ll head home.”

She nods and I watch her for a moment as she gets into my car while I take my phone again. I turn around and scroll through my contacts until I come across one of my soldiers, Dominic, then dial his number and place the phone on my ear.

He answers almost immediately.

“Arlo?”

“I need you to fucking do something for me tonight.”

“What is it?”

“I need you to grab a large amount of fucking coke and plant it in a cop's car, then anonymously tip.”

“Send me the car’s license plate number.”

“Nice one.”

I hang up the phone and send the details of the dirty pig's car before taking a deep breath. The sooner he is out of the way, the fucking better. If necessary, I’ll kill him, whether it’s on Ghosts say so or not.

When Wren and I get home, we step out of the car, and I grab her hand in mine once I’ve closed the gap between us.

“Come with me; I have a couple of things to show you.”

We walk toward my garage, and once I enter the code, we go through the door. I release her hand and walk straight to one of my cars, with her following behind me. I come to a stop at the trunk of one of my vintage cars and open it.

Before speaking, I look down at all the guns, knives, and other weapons inside.
