He closes his blade before slipping it back into his pants pocket, and he glances at me in the mirror.
"I think the freak wanted to watch!"
He finally releases my hair as I laugh loudly and drop my head forward. As he wraps his strong arm around my waist, he drags my sluggish body up toward him.
I rest my head back on his chest before looking up at him with a raised eyebrow and a small smirk still on my lips.
"You're a psycho, do you know that?"
He glances all around my face before dipping his head and murmuring against my lips with darkness shimmering in his eyes.
"Yet you dig it, so what the fuck does that make you?"
I smile once more before responding.
"Equally insane."
He snickers against my lips.
"Yeah, fucking equally as insane."
Just as he is ready to kiss me, the door unexpectedly opens again, and we both look in the mirror to see that Sara has entered this time.
My cheeks flush with shame and I attempt to lower my dress down my thighs and ass while hiding behind Arlo. She places her hand on her hip with a tiny, amused smile and glances between us both in the mirror through narrowed eyes.
"I knew you weren't marrying that fucking bimbo."
Arlo rolls his eyes before speaking sternly, as if he's running out of patience with people interrupting us.
"Can we get some fucking privacy?"
She rolls her eyes before turning around and leaving with a huff, and I immediately feel awful.
"Arlo, it's her birthday, and I just ruined it."
In the mirror, his eyes meet mine, and he stares at me for a moment, his jaw tensing in disapproval.
"That prick out there ruined shit, not you."
I turn around and look up at him.
"So, what happens now?"
"We're fucking leaving; I'm taking you and Cree home."
My brows furrow and I speak softly.
"But what about Sara?"
"Sara will understand, Wren. She doesn't even like him. I don't want him near you or Cree until he straightens his fucking act out."
He suddenly places his palms on my face and searches my eyes deeply, speaking in a serious tone.
“You need to stay the fuck away from him, do you understand?”
I feel fear grip me from his words, and I look at him cautiously, unsure of what to say, before I offer him a slight nod instead.
He takes his hands off my face and stands upright while straightening out his suit.
