I sit up with a smile as I shake my head.

"You're wrong, Lily; I believe he is just an arrogant asshole in general."

"Well, whatever it is, go smash today and give him no reason not to hire your beautiful ass! I'm certain you can do it."

I withdraw the phone to check the time on the screen before returning it to my ear.

"Look, thank you, but I'd better get going or I'll be late."

"That'll be fifty dollars, please."

A frown forms on my face.

"Excuse me?"

"For my valuable advice and time."

Surprised by her mischievousness, I scoff.

"Girl, you called me!"

She giggles, and I smile as I roll my eyes.

"I'll send it over to your account right now, but please stay safe and don't do anything stupid!"

"Of course, sis! Thank you! And best of luck today."

I exhaled a weak breath.

"Thank you; I'll need it. Speak soon; I love you."

She suddenly speaks again, preventing me from hanging up.

"Oh, and Wren?"

"Yeah?"

"When you get this job, which I am confident you will, put your foot down if he continues to be a jerk. I know you're a kind person, but being nice doesn't always work against this type of man."

My brows shoot up my forehead.

"Wow, when did you become the guru of advice?"

She chuckles into the speaker.

"Believe me, it works every time.Speak soon."

After we’ve hung up, I quickly transfer the money and then toss my phone on my bed.

Maybe she's right; if this continues when I move in, I'll have to take a stand against his miserable arse.

I get up from the bed and go to my walk-in closet to choose something to wear for the day.

I decide to dress comfortably because I know I'll most likely be playing and chasing Cree all day.

After applying some light make-up, I throw my hair up in two high, long pigtails and dress in a khaki strappy vest, light blue denim shorts, and white high-top Converse.
