"So, you came here to judge Jasper, knowing full well you're fucking his brother?"
My attention shifts to her, and her eyes dart between me and Arlo, disbelief lingering on her pretty face.
"How was I supposed to know he had a brother, Lil? I had no idea until Jasper told me his last name when you went to the restroom because I had a feeling he was someone to do with Arlo.”
She bursts out laughing, shaking her head, and throwing her hands in the air.
"Mom's going to fucking love this; we're both dating unapproved men!"
I close my eyes gradually before I carefully lay my palm on the table, trying to remain calm and when I reopen them, I speak firmly while sensing Arlo side-eyeing me, his intense aura spilling forth.
"I'm not fucking dating anyone, Lil."
"No, just fucking."
My eyes dart to Jaspers when he says the words and I narrow them as I tilt my head to the side.
"I'm an adult, Jasper, and I can fuck whomever I want. There's a big difference between you and an eighteen-year-old."
He shrugs his shoulders, clearly unfazed, and maintains his grin.
"It's perfectly legal, Wren."
I roll my eyes and glance away as I respond quietly.
"I know that, but my mom will not approve. I'm sorry."
Lily then speaks directly across from me.
"That's where you come in and convince her otherwise, Wren."
"And why would I do that?"
"Come on, you can clearly see he's a good guy.”
I cast a glance at Jasper beside her, but it's not him I'm worried about. It's his crazy family and his insane dad, and I'm not sure how I feel about my baby sister being involved in all of this.
I exhale a strained breath before responding.
"Look, I'll be in touch about it; I need some time to process everything."
She now turns to face Arlo with a smile on her face.
"And what do you have to say about all of this, Arlo?"
My body tightens as she attempts to get him involved, and I turn my head wryly to look at him. Leaning back, his eyes darting between Lily and Jasper before settling on me alongside him, his gaze taking in my facial features.
"Listen to your fucking sister; she's a good judge of character."
I can’t help but smile at that remark before gazing down at my hands, but when I hear Lily scoff, I raise my head to see that she is now frowning.
"We'd better get going, but I'll be in touch, okay?Just give me a ring if you need me, Lil."
After I say that, Arlo slides out from his seat, allowing me to get out before Lil and I hug.
I can hear Arlo talking quietly to Jasper while we embrace and I turn my head to the side before whispering softly in ear.
"I love you."
