“What?”

He places another piece of paper in front of me, and I read over it swiftly. When I see that he has bought the house we were supposed to view together, my eyes widen before I shake my head with puzzlement and look at Carmella.

“Why would he do all this?”

“When Bridget was carrying Cree, Arlo did the same thing. He presumably wanted you and the baby to be secure in a scenario in which something ever happened to him. It's just who he was.”

I blink a few times before gazing down at it all again until the attorney speaks again.

“I think it is best that you go over all this. It's a lot to take in. Please stay in touch when you have those signed.”

“Wait…”

He pauses when I stop him and he looks at me.

“Can you change my name for me?”

“To?”

“Wren Hayes.”

He gives a small nod before gesturing to the paperwork with his hand.

“When you drop the papers off , we will sort that out then.”

I nod before looking down and continuing to scan the documents as he stands up and exits the house. I can feel Jasper and Carmella's eyes all over me, but at first, I'm too shocked to speak.

When I gather my bearings, I lift my head and look at Jasper.

“What does this mean for the business?”

He lifts his chin as he folds his arms over his chest while relaxing his back.

“It means you own it.”

“But…”

My eyes meet Carmella’s quickly when she says the word.

“You can leave that to us. You're pregnant, and you're in no state to be involved in the business.”

I raise an eyebrow as I lean back in my chair and Jasper speaks opposite me..

“Carmella is right.”

I continue to stare at Carmella as I challenge her.

“What if I want to be involved?”

“It's not an option.”

I grind my teeth with annoyance and I glance away as she continues.

“Move into your new house with Cree and get ready for the baby. You don't need to worry about things like this; they're under control. The Elites would never take you seriously while you're pregnant, and you'll constantly be in danger.”

I feel coldness run through me, and I respond while not looking her way.

“And what if I just don't give you fuck all?”
