My top fell down and Stefan had played with my breasts until I’d made him come down my throat.
“I’m going to miss you so much,” he said when he’d kissed me goodbye.
I still felt tingly just thinking about it.
My car shook me out of my daydreaming—literally.
It spurted and spat and then just flat out died.
Crap.
I was already late for class. I really didn’t need this right now.
Smoke was coming out of the hood, so I jumped out to investigate it after I pulled the lever in the car.
I wasn’t quite sure why I’d done that, but it seemed like a good place to start.
My hair was up in a bun, so at least it didn’t get in my way as I leaned over and waved my arm around, sweeping the smoke away. I could finally see the innerworkings of the car.
And I still had not one clue about what to do.
“Dammit,” I said, stomping back around to the driver’s seat. This project was worth thirty percent of my final grade. If I showed up late—or not at all—my professor would not look kindly at me. I grabbed my phone and dialed Nick.
He picked up immediately. “I’m about to go into a meeting, my dear. What can I do for you?” His voice was low and smooth—and I let it float around me for a few seconds.
“You can tell me how to fix a smoking car?” I huffed, fanning at the engine again.Wasn’t this just typical? The universe was clearly making me pay for the wonderful weekend I’d just had.
There was dead silence.
“Excuse me?” he said, his voice sharp and crisp.
“My car crapped out on my way to class. I managed to pull over to the side of the road, but I think it’s dead.” Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a car stop behind me.
“Since when do you have class on Mondays?”
I sighed and reminded him. “We have a presentation, remember?” The sun shined in my eyes, making it difficult to see his face—but the guy was making his way to me. “Oh, never mind. Someone stopped to help. I’ll call you back.” I adjusted my sunglasses, but the glare was still too bright.
“Eve! Stop! Do not—”
“Need some help?” the man asked. He wore a hat and sunglasses. His voice and smile seemed vaguely familiar.
I pointed to the hood of my car with my phone, still hearing Nick going on about something. “Do you know anything about—”
That was when another set of hands grabbed me from behind, covering my mouth.
I dropped my phone and dug my nails into his hairy arm.
It didn’t matter how much I kicked and fought—he was bigger and stronger than I was. Instant panic flowed through me as I tried my hardest to wrestle out of his hold.
I bit down on his thick arm. “Stop it, bitch!” the faceless man behind me screamed before everything went black.
