“I’m not really expecting any trouble tonight,” Melora went on. “But you never know. They might find this house but they won’t find Mountain’s place.”
“I can ask Amos and his friends to watch for any other bikers in the area,” Deke told his dad. “And get word to you guys if they find any in town. Meanwhile, our men will be outside to keep watch.”
“I’ll go pack some clothes for the kids and Shaw’s diaper bag for overnight,” Melora said and made her way down the hall. She quickly packed up what they both would need then she found Shaw was awake.
The little girl smiled at her and held up her hands to be picked up.
Melora grabbed her up and hugged her tight. “Oh honey, I missed you.”
“Mama, lobe you, mama,” Shaw said.
“Well, you and T get to spend the night at grandpa and grandma’s.” Melora smiled.
Shaw clapped her hands and bounced a little in her arms. “Gampa, gandma’s.”
Melora giggled and grabbed the bags then she made her way back to the living room.
Mountain took Shaw from her and bounced her in his arms as he gave her a huge grin. “You ready to come to our house and have a sleep over, little Shaw?”
“Yay!” Shaw clapped her little hands.
Mountain and Izzy got ready to go.
Melora quickly wrote a note to get TBone out of school early and then hugged her dad and Izzy. “Keep my kids safe, ok?” she whispered to Izzy.
Izzy smiled and said, “Always, girl.”
After they left, Deke sat down and asked Danny, “Who are your ex’s brothers?”
Danny exhaled hard and said, “They run with the Satan’s Warriors and they go by their road names of Taker, Flame, Boss, and Colt. Her new lover is from the Devil’s Minions group and his name is Crank. But Crank always runs with two others, Bowman and Shovel. Those two are truly ruthless too, they have no compassion for anyone but themselves.”
“Do you know who she owes all this money too?” Gator asked him.
Danny nodded. “That’s her dealer, a man that goes by the name of Papa Doc. A real loser who peddles flesh of all ages and he doesn’t care who pays the bill.”
Gator snorted. “Papa Doc? That sounds like the name of someone who lives down in the South, not someone who lives in Chicago.”
Danny nodded. “Yeah, he came from New Orleans actually and settled here to push his wares, so to speak. He’s someone you don’t want to mess with cuz he always carries a big ass knife and he’d rather cut you than look at you. Then he hangs out with two huge goons.” Danny gave a shudder. “Those two look like they should be locked up before they hurt someone.”
“Well, shit,” Deke swore under his breath. “I hate these arrogant fucks who swagger around, thinking they can do whatever the hell they want. And there is no lower species on this earth than baby peddlers. That kind of scumbag operates under the code of...if they can’t get at you themselves, they’ll just get some paid thugs to do it.”
“And by offering her daughter to get an amount knocked off what she owes the man,” Gator interjected. “This Rylan addict will end up in a bad way if she doesn’t turn over the little girl and soon. I’d hate to be this Rylan chick right now.”
“I wish I could say that I cared about that.” Danny had a glare in his eyes. “But I don’t. She used to be a human being, now she’s just some raging zombie. Selfish and crazy. And the thing is, I don’t think she told her brothers what she’s doing. Breanna might not mean anything to them, but I can’t imagine they would go along with what she has been trying to do. They just never seemed the type.”
They all heard the roar of cycles pulling into Sam’s driveway.
Sam looked out the window and turned his head to glance at Melora before he looked at Deke. “Well, we’re about to find out what types they are. Taker, Flame, and Boss just arrived.”
A loud pounding sounded on the front door.
Sam walked over to the door and opened it. He stood there seeming to try to gauge what they had in mind for a few seconds then held out his hand, “Hey Taker, I can only imagine why you’re at my door. But I’m hoping you’re here to help your family.”
Chapter Twelve
Taker growled as he sneered at Sam. “What the hell are you doing here, Bones? Shouldn’t you be in Maine?”
Sam shook his head. “Moved down here a few years ago and joined my son’s MC. What are you and your brothers doing here at my door?”
