“You have no fucking clue what’s going on and this is between Melora and me, not every-fucking-body else. Leave it alone. Leave me alone.” Sam growled as he threw his rag down on the bike and stomped out of the shop.

They all heard the sound of his truck starting up and the gravel being tossed all over as he peeled out of the driveway.
Izzy just stood there and looked lost.
Iceman walked over to her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. “Breathe, Izzy,” he said softly. “Just breathe.”
Izzy took a deep breath and nodded. “If he knew Melora at all, he would realize she could never be disloyal to him or their family.” She shook her head sadly. “That would just never happen. She loves him too much.” She looked up at Iceman. “When we were kids she said she wouldn’t get married until she knew she loved the guy, like her mom loved Mountain once upon a time. They might have only been together for a short time but I know Carla loved him from the moment they met. That woman loved him right up to the day she died.” She stared at the door Sam had just gone through moments ago, then looked back at Iceman. “Melora wouldn’t marry Sam until she was sure he loved her as much as she loved him. She was pregnant at the time but she didn’t want to trap him in a marriage where he only married her because of the baby. When he finally admitted to her that he loved her then she agreed to marry him. The day she said her vows, they meant something to her.”
“This is all hard on those of us that care about them. Though Bones is hard to care about some days.” He tried to cheer her up.
Shaking her head, she admitted, “I don’t know what happened but I think they both need a come to Jesus meeting.”
Iceman snorted. “Yeah they do, but Sam’s got his bones all jammed up, so to speak right now and he isn’t willing to listen to anyone. Not even Jesus, I’ll bet.”
Izzy nodded. “Yeah, I hear ya but he isn’t the only stubborn one here, Melora is just as bad. This is turning into a battle of wills and if that’s the case, no one wins.”
Iceman shook his head. “I know your childhood wasn’t an easy one. My Peaches and Cassie grew up pretty much the same way. I also know that you girls have your own secrets right?” He looked at her. “I know there are some things Cassie and Peaches just don’t or won’t talk about. I know how hard it is to share the hard ones and maybe this is one of Melora’s secrets. Could that be what’s going on?”
Izzy thought for a moment then nodded slowly. “That could very well be what’s happening and I tried to tell Sam that very thing. Melora has been off for a couple of weeks now and if she won’t even tell me what’s been bothering her, it's got to be something from her past.”
“But what could it be?” Iceman shrugged.
“That, I don’t know.” Izzy still looked upset as she turned and walked toward the door.
When she left, Iceman looked around at the other men in the shop and shook his head. Then he went back to work.

Sam stopped at the turn of the driveway and watched the house for a few moments. He could see Melora and Shaw inside through the living room window and they seemed happy enough.
Melora was dancing in the living room while holding Shaw and laughing with her. Then she looked up and saw Sam sitting there and she froze. Slowly walking over to the window, she stared back at the man sitting in his truck at the end of the drive.
Shaw noticed her daddy sitting there and she got so excited that she raised her chubby little arms as she called out for him. The window was open and Sam could hear his daughter calling, “Daaaa...” He put the truck into gear and drove up the driveway. Then he got out and went over to the front door.
Melora opened the door and Shaw reached for him. Sam took her in his arms and cuddled with his baby.
Shaw laughed and giggled as her daddy held her tight.
“Oh, baby girl, I have missed you,” Sam whispered to his daughter.
“She’s missed you too Sam, both her and TBone. TBone keeps asking me when...” She took a deep breath and quietly told him the truth, “When are you going to stop being mean and come home?”
Sam was smoothing his finger along Shaw’s pink little cheek. Then he snapped his head up and stared at her. “And what did you tell him?”
“What am I supposed to tell him, Sam?” Melora asked him. “That his daddy doesn’t trust his mommy? How do I tell him that? He would never understand.”
He just stared at her for a moment. “Well, I don’t understand either, not until you tell me what’s going on around here.” Sam growled. “Make me understand and we can go from there.”
Melora just stared at him. “Sam, you know me better than most people ever will. I told you most of what happened to me growing up but there are some things I just can’t talk about. It's just too painful. This is one of those things. It happened a long time ago but I still can’t talk about it. If that isn’t good enough for you, then nothing else I say will be either. I have never given you a reason to doubt me to date and I still haven’t.”
Sam shook his head. “I’ve had your dad stop and try to talk to me, then Deke stopped in to talk to me and today, Izzy stopped by the shop. They won’t even let me work. You need to call them off, Silk. This is between you and me and nobody else.”
Melora shook her head. “I never asked anyone to talk to you. You’re right when you say this is between you and me but I guess that isn’t even true, is it?”
Sam glared at her. “What is that supposed to mean?” he asked, then tugged at Shaw’s little hand and she giggled again.
