“No. Peyton Donahue, you will not go after that man.”
“I’m teasing you. You know I’d never do that Dylan. That is one rule none of us break.”
“I know. I’m sorry. It’s just that, he makes me think things I shouldn’t.”
“Like what?”
“Well, he has sexy lips, and you know how we’re a sucker for those on a man, and my first thought was I bet he knows how to use them on a woman. Something that shouldn’t cross my mind when I have a bull missing, and possibly someone still after the others. I need to concentrate on that, not Alexander Reeves.”
“I love the name Alexander,” Marlowe said.
“I do too. He’s so… sexy. God! I know I shouldn’t even be thinking of him that way, but, damn, he’s hot.” Dylan shook her head.
“Get him in bed. If he’s a dud, you can get it out of your system.” Peyton smiled.
“And if he’s not a dud?”
“Just sex then.”
“I can’t do that, Peyton. I know a lot of women have no trouble jumping into bed with a man they don’t know, but that is not me. Hell, it’s not any of us.”
“Well, I had sex with Hank before knowing him,” Marlowe said, nibbling on her lip.
“You knew him well enough. You didn’t have sex with him the first night you went out.”
“No, not for lack of him trying, but I knew I wasn’t ready for that, and especially since he was a cowboy. But he changed my mind on the second date.” Marlowe smiled.
“And you’re blissfully happy.” Dylan grinned.
“I am. You both could be too. You both need to find a man.”
“I wouldn’t mind finding a good man, but he can’t be a cowboy.” Peyton shook her head.
“You, Peyton Roselyn Donahue, will meet a cowboy who will rock your world. Then what? You’d give that up because he’s a cowboy?” Marlowe tilted her head.
“I don’t know. Cowboys break hearts. Not just mine or yours, but just about any woman they encounter. My father has left a string of broken hearts behind,” Peyton growled.
“That’s who ruined it for you. He treated your mother like shit.” Dylan frowned.
“Yes, he almost destroyed my mother.” Peyton shook her head. “I can never forgive him for that.”
“I wouldn’t be able to either. I believe there are good men out there for us, we just have to find them like Marlowe did. I think Hank is a wonderful man and since he makes Marlowe happy, I’m happy,” Dylan said.
“I agree. I like Hank too.”
“So, you admit there are good cowboys out there?” Marlowe asked.
Peyton sighed. “I suppose so, but I don’t want one. Good or bad. You two can have them.”
“I only want Hank.”
“And I sure as hell don’t want more than one.”
“You need to get Agent Reeves in your bed.” Peyton grinned.
“As much as I hate to admit it, since he is a cowboy, I’d love to have sex with him.” Dylan sighed.
“Yes, but the cowboys we’ve been involved with were rodeo cowboys. Not working cowboys. You know as well as I do, that most of those rodeo cowboys love those buckle bunnies,” Marlowe said.
