“I didn’t know it was that bad,” Misha put in.
“Bad enough.” Emilia guessed the cleanup and repairs would take a week or more.
“What about you?” Maggie asked.
“My place is fine. I have the high ground in the house.”
“You’re living in a flooded house?”
“Sure. The cleanup crews are noisy, and they had to shut off the heat and water for a while yesterday, but—”
“You can’t stay there while it’s under repair,” Maggie said with conviction. “Come over to my parents’ place.”
Emilia was taken aback by the generosity of the invitation. “I couldn’t do that. I barely know them. I couldn’t impose.”
“It’s not an imposition. They’ve got tons of room. We were going to make a girls’ weekend of it anyway. I’ll just move there a couple of days early and keep you company. It’ll do Jericho good to miss me for a few nights.” She waggled her brow. “Before the honeymoon.”
Emilia had to admit she was tempted by the offer. The repair crew had warned her they’d have to turn off the heat and water a few more times before they finished. She hadn’t looked forward to that.
Maggie read her expression. “It’s settled then. We’ll pick up your stuff when this thing is over.”
Misha spoke up. “Emilia was just asking me about Nick.”
There was an odd note in her voice that Emilia couldn’t identify.
An equally odd expression crossed Maggie’s face. “Asking what about Nick?”
“She’s been seeing a lot of him since the matchup,” Misha said.
“You like him?” Maggie asked.
“Sure, I like him.” Emilia wouldn’t be spending so much time with him if she didn’t.
“Is it turning into something more?” Maggie asked.
Emilia wasn’t sure how to answer that. They hadn’t known each other very long, but her feelings for him were growing. There was no denying it.
“You don’t really know him all that well, do you?” Misha asked.
“We’ve packed a lot into a couple of dates and a few days.” Emilia had seen Nick in a wide range of situations: on at date, in bed, at work, coming to her rescue.
“They’ve been working together,” Misha said.
Maggie arched a brow. “Working?”
“We’re doing an online database development workshop.”
“Nico’s going on camera?” Maggie sounded astonished.
Emilia wondered why Maggie would use a nickname for Nick.
“Emilia’s going on camera,” Misha said. “Nickis behind the scenes.”
“Oh. Right. Of course. That’s makes more sense.”
“He struck you as camera shy too?” Emilia asked Maggie, wondering if there was something about him that gave off that vibe.
“I told her that he ducked the interview at the IPO launch party,” Misha put in.
