He glanced at her in puzzlement.
She nudged him with her hip. “I was impressed already. You could have booked an economy room with a parking lot view.”
“The Bellamy doesn’t have economy rooms.”
The clerks overheard his last remark and smiled. “He’s right about that. Every one of our rooms is luxuriously appointed with state-of-the-art technology to meet all your needs. I think you’ll love the Gold Oak Suite.” She slid two key cards across the desk to Nico.
“I can’t wait,” Emilia responded with a smile.
The subtle sultry lilt in her voice had him impatient all over again.
They took the elevator to the top floor and found a set of double doors at the end of the hallway. The doors opened into a huge suite with a massive bow window overlooking the park and the hills beyond.
As the door swung shut behind them, he dropped the key on a side table and took Emilia into his arms once again. His entire body seemed to sigh in bliss as she molded herself against him.
Their kisses intensified, desire rising between them.
He peeled off her shirt, then stripped off his own.
When she tossed her bra, he kept going, and soon they were naked.
Part of him wanted to stand there and simply drink in her beauty. But he had to touch her. He had to touch her everywhere.
As his hands explored, hers did too. A sheen of sweat formed on his skin as his racing heart sent anticipation coursing through him. He cupped her breasts, then kneaded her thighs, slipping his hands in between.
As their bodies grew slick and their caresses more intimate, he steered her gently backward, into the bedroom and to the bed. There they tumbled together on the thick white comforter.
He touched her face, looked deeply into her beautiful eyes, then kissed her reverently on her heated lips while he stroked his hand from her neck to the back of her knee, canting her leg, settling closer, to feel the sweetness of her soft body form around his.
Her hands slipped down his back, lower still, impatiently pulling him to her.
He reached for a condom before pushing inside, watching the glow in her eyes, kissing her smile as she wrapped her legs around him.
“This,” she hissed, then kissed him deeply. “Is—” She kissed him again, arching her back, welcoming him, sending shafts of desire careening the length of his body.
“I know,” he managed, sliding her arm beneath her back, arching her further, thrusting harder, letting the haze of passion obliterate every thought but her—Emilia, Emilia, Emilia.
Time stopped as their passion spiraled higher. He held on tight, never wanting to stop. How could he give this up?
Then she called out his name, and his body convulsed, fireworks going off behind his eyes as ecstasy cascaded through him, over him, all around him.
Making his way back to earth, he rolled to his back, holding her on top, struggling to pull in enough oxygen to satisfy his straining lungs.
He could feel her heartbeat and hear her labored breath.
He didn’t know what to say. He didn’t have the words to express what had happened to him. There was sex, and there was sex. But he’d sure never felt this blinding passion that defied gravity. It wasn’t something a man could put into words.
It was Emilia who broke the silence. “I’m sure hungry now.”
Across the table from Nick in the Glass House restaurant, Emilia was determined to keep it light. She didn’t want to give him the wrong impression—that she was about to get all expectant and eager because they’d made love a second time.
They had a physical attraction, a very strong physical attraction, sure, but it was no big deal. They were both adults. Their passionate lovemaking didn’t mean anything more than the obvious—they desired each other, and they were good together in bed. Okay, great together in bed. In fact, she’d go so far as to say outstanding together in bed.
But they were still just an early computer dating match, and she wasn’t about to make it anything more than that.
She helped herself to a breadstick. “I’ve been thinking about it, and we should beef up the key field analysis before tackling the queries sections.”
He blinked. “Huh?”
