“You’re moving in with me.”

Woah. Wait.

“What do you mean I’m moving in with you?”

“It’s not safe, and I don’t feel comfortable having you here alone while this psycho is on the loose. My penthouse is secure even more so than the building in general.” There was no room for argument in his tone. “I want to protect you, Selena, and I promise you that I will. But now that you have told me about this guy, I need you near me at all times. I need to have eyes on you to ease my own heart.”

“I never took Daniel Sinclair for the nervous kind.” I tried to joke, but it all fell flat.

He walked over to me and stood over me.

“You are the love of my life, Selena, and I will forever keep you safe.”

He wove his words together like he was sculpting masterpieces. In each one, there was a promise, the kind of promise that whispered to the soul and the most vulnerable parts of your heart.

He crossed the distance between us and grabbed my face in his hands. He leaned down and claimed my lips in his in a soft and gentle kiss. The kind of kiss that held hope—a promise of a better tomorrow.

When he pulled away, I kept my eyes closed for just a second longer to linger in the sweetness of this man.

“Move in with me, and let me be your protector.”

“Selena, please make yourself at home,” he smiled.

Even though I had spent many nights here, I never truly envisioned it as my home. The place reeked of money and minimalism. Cold marble floors, sleek furniture, and a vibe so formal, I half-expected the walls to scold me for not wearing a ball gown. I took a moment to inhale, preparing for the ultimate clash of worlds.

"Mi casa es su casa.”

"Casa? Babe, the place is like a palace," I replied, flashing him a grin that would make the Mona Lisa jealous.

"Hope you're ready for a pop of color in your monochrome world, Danny boy."

Daniel raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical of my intentions.

"Don't worry, I'm not here to cramp your style," I teased, "But who knows, maybe a little cramping is exactly what you need."

“The only cramping I will allow is after we have had sex four times in a row and we are dehydrated.”

"Haha, OK, now, tell me, do you have any house rules? I mean, aside from 'no loud parties' and 'keep the noise down'?"

Daniel hesitated, thinking about the sanctity of his orderly life. "I prefer things to be neat and organized. No clutter, no chaos."

“Well, I can’t promise that I will not bring both of those things into this place,” I said as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

“And I can’t promise that I won’t love every single thing you do,” he replied.

Selena

Thenextday, wewent to work together. Daniel decided to call a quick staff meeting to let the office know about us and that he was removing the “no dating in the office” rule. Some people scoffed that he only did that because it was convenient for him now that he wanted to be with me. He explained that he understood their viewpoint and that it was fair, but this whole situation with me made him realize that it was a dumb rule in the first place.

To be honest, I thought people would make a bigger deal about it, but it didn’t seem to ruffle anyone’s feathers. I noticed a few exchanged looks between Lisa and Brandon when they thought no one was looking. What was up with those two? I mean, they were two very good-looking people- around the same age. Maybe Brandon was playing up the fact that Lisa was a little... bitchy. Maybe they secretly had a thing for each other.

At one point Lisa noticed me watching them with a smile on my face and quickly set her gaze to the floor. Yep. Something was definitely up with these two.
