“We’re going to get these motherfuckers, Alana. And we’re going to look amazing doing it.”
Her words give me the confidence I need and I square my shoulders in preparation for facing off against three deadly gangsters. Because, let’s be honest, that is exactly what’s about to happen.
Aubrey walks toward the door that I’m amazed no one has tried storming through since I disappeared in here and opens it with a flourish.
Immediately, the deep rumble of my men’s voices hits my ears and my skin erupts with goose bumps.
“Damn, girl. You’ve got it bad, huh?” Aubrey asks, able to see my powerful reaction to them.
“Yeah,” I muse. “It might all be about to come to an end though,” I muse, predicting how the next ten minutes are going to go.
Aubrey laughs and wastes no time in marching forward, straight into the living room. I creep behind her and peer around the corner, wanting to see their reactions to her.
But they don’t have any.
The guys’ conversation doesn’t so much as falter when she walks in front of them.
Reid glances up, but that’s it.
My heart beats wildly in my chest as she turns to see where I am.
Sucking in a deep breath, I pray I drag some courage in with it because I’m about to have a fight on my hands.
Stepping out of my hiding place, I move into the room.
Unlike when Aubrey did it, all conversation stops and all eyes turn on me.
My temperature spikes, my stomach somersaulting as their gazes turn heated as they take me in.
“Holy fuck, Dove. I think I just came in my pants.”
“Lovely,” Aubrey scoffs.
Flipping her off, JD gets to his feet and stalks toward me, his eyes wide and hungry. The second he’s in touching distance, he grabs my hips and tugs me into his body, his face nuzzling my neck and making me shiver with desire.
“You look amazing, Doll,” Mav tells me, his eyes dark but cautious. Unlike JD, he’s already figured this out.
But his reaction isn’t as visceral as Reid’s as his expression hardens and his fists curl on his thighs.
“No. Absolutely fucking not,” he sneers. “Didn’t you listen to anything we fucking said?”
Ripping his eyes from me, he turns his furious stare on Aubrey.
But unlike almost everyone else on the planet, she doesn’t so much as blink.
“I heard perfectly fine,” she states. “I just happen to think that you’re wrong.”
Reid rears back in shock, his brows almost hitting his hairline.
Everything goes deadly silent as we wait for him to respond.
“She sure knows how to light the fuse, huh?” JD whispers in my ear, his breath making goose bumps erupt down my neck.
“Alana isn’t going to that club with you.”
Aubrey smirks.
“That’s where you’re wrong. We’re going together. I’ve ensured they have extra security, and we’ll have comms. It’s perfectly safe. Plus, she’ll be with me, and really, is there anyone better trained to protect your girl?” Aubrey asks, tilting her head to the side as if she’s trying to look innocent.
