“I’m serious. Reid needs his best soldiers standing beside him tonight.

“As much as I want to be there, I know it’s not my place.”

My heart races as I think about the prospect of being left behind.

“I refuse to have Daisy wake in the middle of the night to someone she doesn’t know just so I can see that cunt bleed. She’s my priority now. I need to be here with her.”

“Fuck,” Reid snaps, and before I know what’s happening, he’s stormed across the room, has me in his arms and his lips are on mine.

“Whoa.” One of his brothers grunts as Reid pushes his tongue past my lips and kisses me as if we’re the only two people in the room.

“Jesus, Harris. You’re in love, we know. We don’t need to see it,” Aubrey deadpans, but Reid still doesn’t stop.

By the time he pulls back from my lips, my chest is heaving and my head is spinning.

“Leaving you behind is the last thing I want to do despite knowing it’s where you’ll be safest. But listening to you talk about Daisy like that, the way you protect her. Fuck, Pet. It does things to me,” he whispers so only I can hear.

“I’m trusting you,” I tell him. “I’m trusting you to get this done to all come back to me in one piece.”

“We will.”

There’s movement in the room and the next thing I know, Mav and JD close in on me and I’m surrounded by them.

“You’re the best mommy,” JD tells me. “Daisy is so lucky to have you.”

Emotion burns up my throat as I meet his blue eyes.

“She’s lucky to have you too. All of you.”

“We’re going to do this for you, Doll. For you, Kristie, and every other life who has been tainted by Victor Harris,” Mav tells me fiercely.

“Good. Make it hurt. I want him to feel everything and know exactly who took him down.”

“Oh, he will. You don’t need to worry about that,” Reid promises darkly.

Their arms wrap around me, and I find myself pinned between the three of them.

“Tomorrow will be the start of a new beginning. Reid Harris is going to reign this motherfucking town and you’ll officially be our queen,” JD announces before twisting my face to him and stealing my lips.

I kiss him like it’s our last time before Mav claims my attention and does the same.

By the time they release me, my cheeks are flooded with tears.

“We’re going to be back before you know it,” Mav promises.

“You won’t even know we’ve gone,” JD adds.

I nod, desperately wanting to believe them.

Glancing over my shoulder, I see the sun beginning to set over the valley.

Sucking in a deep breath, I hold my head high and wipe the tears from my cheeks.

They need me to be strong. They need to go into battle tonight confident that I can hold it together and that I’m here waiting for them to return.

They need me to be strong for them, even if it is from a distance.

“You’ve got this,” I tell them without so much as a waver in my voice.
