It wasn’t as if they’d deliberately fallen in love with Lindsay. That had happened in a blink of an eye. They rarely saw her growing up. But then there was that time over the holidays two years ago. She had turned twenty-two, and she bombarded herself into their lives and hearts like a tornado, and they hadn’t been the same ever since.
They had no idea how it happened or why it had to be her of all the women they could have chosen from, but none of their questions mattered.
Lindsay Brenner owned their hearts, and there wasn’t a fucking thing they could do about it. Not as long as she was their best friends’ kid sister.
But this changed everything.
What was she up to? What made her appear in their cabin dressed as a sexy Ms. Claus? One thing was certain: They were going to find out what exactly the beauty had up her sleeve.
While she tried to disguise her features with makeup, they guessed that for other lesser people, she would have gotten away with it, but not them. This was the woman whose face they had engraved in their memory for life. They could see through layers and layers of makeup to find her true self beneath it all.
And if that wasn’t all the evidence they needed, her body was a dead giveaway because the same applied to every curve she was worth. Blindfolded, they would be able to pick her out with their hands running down her body alone.
She couldn’t fool them if she had tried harder.
But again, it was definitive. They were going to see her play this out to the end, and they were going to be patient as fuck to see it through.
The other thing was that they were going to lay their claim to her, and they hoped their friends, Leo, Aaron, and Micah, who trusted them with their lives, would trust them with their sister’s heart as well.
It was time, and they could no longer stay away from her.
While she greeted them with her fake accent, Chris surreptitiously locked the door, using a code on the keylock. She wasn’t leaving until they said so.
They had no idea what she was up to. But the last time something like this happened, around two years ago, when they had fallen hard and fast for her, she had wished they would swallow bees and burn in hell.
Chapter Four
Lindsay allowed her mind to dwell on that night in the hotel room with them. She hadn’t told anyone about it, not even Andrea. Maybe she had already preempted the outcome and didn’t want Andrea to get riled up for her.
So she planned everything herself, but it fell completely apart during the execution phase.
She blushed through the layers of makeup in embarrassment, but then took great comfort in the fact that they had no idea it was her behind the disguise, and that meant she could do anything she wanted.
“I thought we would start with a little eggnog, gentlemen? Oh, don’t worry,” she said when they looked at each other clearly because they didn’t have any eggnog. “I came fully prepared.”
Without waiting for directions, she waltzed into their kitchen, aware that after she had discarded her thick coat, their eyes remained glued to her figure-hugging dress. She purposefully gave her hips extra sway as she walked into the kitchen.
Her whole disguise empowered her. She felt free to do as she pleased without any consequence. But she couldn’t forget her sole reason for being in their cabin in the first place. She was there to steal their bottle of Scotch with the personal note stuck to it and let her brothers think it was theirs until she could have a perfect duplicate made.
She had already spotted the bottle in the cozy setting of the cabin, with its crackling fire and thick rugs. So easy.
She poured the eggnog into three mugs—it was all she could find—and then, carrying all three of them at the same time, she entered the living room and handed it to them. They took it, and she couldn’t hide her smile when they immediately downed the lot.
Well, that was freaking easy.
Like giving candy to three babies.
After taking the mugs from them, she wondered if they needed a refill, then thought better of it. She just wanted them to be asleep for an hour, maybe, to allow her to get away. But they were pretty big guys, over six feet of pure muscle, and one mug of laced eggnog would probably hit them for fifteen minutes, tops. She would take that.
Pushing them onto a huge sofa where they sat side by side, she took out her phone and spared a thought for Andrea, who would probably still be driving her brothers to the secluded cabin. Once she entered that area, her cell service was useless. Lindsay would have to wait a bit more before she called her friend to ask her how it went.
She had already picked a playlist of sexy Christmas songs to dance to.
As soon as the music started to play, Chris’ deep, gravelly voice made her skin spark.
“What’s in the bag, Ms. Claus?”
“That’s for me to know and for you to find out,” she said saucily.
