Page 80 of Always With You

Looking down at her mobile, she frowns.

Not liking the look on her face, my feet carry me to her in two long steps. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s a voice message from an unknown number.”

“Play it,” I say. With quivering fingers, she does.

“Alisha, it’s me, Siddh. You blocked my number, so I had no option than to try calling you from another number. I know I am being desperate, but I wanted you to know that I still love you and miss you like crazy. Alisha, I know I screwed up. But please give me a chance. I need you. Please talk to me.”

I clench my teeth and tighten my facial muscles as I pull the phone out of her hand. My grip on the mobile is so hard that I can feel the phone may give up at any moment.

“Don’t you dare break my phone.”

My gaze moves to Alisha, who gives me a warning look. But I ignore and throw the phone onto the bed. I then pull her by her waist and bring her close to me.

“You are not ever going to contact him.”

“I don’t wish to,” she assures me.

“Why the hell is he even calling you in the first place? Doesn’t he know that you are now married?” I don’t disguise the wrath in my voice.

“He doesn’t know about my marriage,” she responds, closing her eyes. I tug her closer to me and she opens her eyes and looks at me, taking a deep breath. “I have not spoken to him since the time I caught him in bed with my best friend,” she whispers.

My eyes mellow as I hear the catch in her voice. On instinct, I bend and place a kiss on her cheek. “I will make sure he gets the message that you are taken.”

She narrows her eyes. “What’s running in that mind of yours?”

I shrug my shoulders. “Nothing I wish to share with you, but he will live.”

She rolls her eyes. “You are such a devil!”

My lips twitch, but I don’t disagree with her. “And you love this devil.”

“That I do,” she murmurs, wrapping her arms around my neck. My hands slide to her waist and under her shirt. My thumbs rub along her sides, causing goosebumps to break out on her skin.

I softly kiss her nose and then her lips. “I love you.”

“I love you too. And thanks again for tonight.” She stands on her tiptoes and kisses me on my nose.

My eyes glue to her. I can’t believe I have a woman that loves me with all her heart.

Chapter 36

Alisha

“Excuse me, I just got a call that my friend, Rewa, was brought in,” I ask with bated breath, stopping at the hospital reception.

A hand squeezes my shoulder, and I glance up to find Ranveer watching me with worried eyes, reminding me that he is here and assuring me that everything is going to be okay. But I won’t be able to bring myself under control till I don’t see Rewa with my own eyes.

“Give me a minute.” Thetall, dark-haired woman behind the desk says politelyas she types on her computer. After a few seconds, she looks up at me. “Miss Rewa is in room twenty-four.” She then points to the elevator. “Take the elevator to the second floor, and it’s the fourth room to the right.”

Without wasting another second, I turn around and head to the elevator. I rush in with Ranveer at my heels. Earlier, when I got a call from the hospital that Rewa had met with an accident, I freaked out. The thought of Rewa being injured had me quaking in my boots. Fortunately, I had Ranveer by my side. He was the one who drove us down to the hospital. I don’t know what I would have done if he would have not been with me when I got the news.

I push open her room door and step in. My heart is in my throat when I see her hooked to the IV fluid and her face looks pale.

“Are you… okay?” My voice cracks.

Rewa lifts her head and looks at me as I approach her. The moment I stand beside her, I see her eyes glassy.
