Page 73 of Always With You

I guess someone who knows the true value of family.

“Sounds impressive. Though I find it difficult to wrap my mind around it.”

“Yeah, he is different. He even donates a crazy sum of money every year to different charities. And thank my shining star, he’s even single.” Rewa wiggles her eyebrows at me.

“And all this you learnt about him in a matter of a few hours?” My eyebrows touch the roof. “Rewa, I still think you need to know him before you take this relationship any further. I don’t want you to be hurt,” I rush to say before I can stop myself. This guy has influenced her big time!

Rewa flips her mobile back around, finding a picture of him with his parents to show me.

“I agree, he sure looks like a grounded man,” I finally say.

“Yup, despite the money he has, he doesn’t have the air about himself. I know you are worried about me like I was about you. Yet, I want you to have faith in my decision like I had in yours. And look at you now.”

I bite my bottom lip, thinking it over. I too love my husband to pieces. Even though he is always hovering over me, yet I know he is all who I want in life. She is not wrong about giving love a chance. Now that I am madly in love with my husband, I can relate to what it is like to see things through her eyes. It is the most beautiful feeling in the world and hits like a lightning bolt and electrifies us.

Giving her a smile, I ask, “Will I get to meet him?”

“You want to?”

“Of course, I would love to meet the person who stole my friend’s heart.”

She claps her hands and bounces on her seat. “That’s the reason we are here for lunch. He will be joining us for a cup of coffee. And he…”

My eyes grow wide and I cut her off. “Wait! Are you telling me that you had all this planned without asking me? What if I wouldn’t have approved of him or even wished to see him?” I narrow my eyes on her.

She laughs and winks at me. “I knew it would take work, but in the end, I would convince you to meet him.” She gives me a triumphant look and then urges, “But please don’t give him a hard time.”

I shake my head and let out a sigh. “I won’t.” I really want to meet this man now who has made her lose her head.

“So, by what time will he be here?” I push her mobile back to her.

“He should be here in about twenty minutes,” she replies as one of the waitresses walks up to the table to take our dessert order.

“Chocolate truffle pastry for me.” I give my order as the waitress scribbles it down.

“Sure, Ma’am,” she says and then turns to Rewa. “How about you, Ma’am?”

“Mango pudding for me,” Rewa says as she closes the menu.

“Okay, Ma’am, I will soon be back with your desserts.” The waitress nods and then walks away.

I rub my hands. “Let’s continue our talk about your hot guy.”

“I think I have done enough talking for the day,” she mumbles as she picks up the napkin on the table, pretending to wipe her mouth, which makes me smirk.

“OMG! Are you trying to hide your blush? But let me tell you, no amount of hiding is going to conceal that blush on your face.” I smile, enjoying taking my friend over to the teasing side. In the past, she had her share of fun, pulling my leg with Ranveer. Turnabout is fair play.

She throws her napkin at me. “You just love having fun at my expense, huh?”

I snort in laughter, looking at her reddened cheeks.

Before Rewa can lash out, the waitress comes back with our order and places it in front of us. Rewa picks up her spoon and scoops her pudding.

“Hmmmmm…” she mumbles, her mouth full as she savours the mango pudding.

I can’t help but smile. Rewa doesn’t hide the fact how much she loves food. That’s one of the things we gel over. We both are the least bit conscious of indulging ourselves with extra calories.

I am about to take a bite of my dessert when my head jerks up as the man I saw on Rewa’s phone slides into the booth next to her. I can’t help but stare at him. He’s handsome, though he doesn’t stand a chance when compared to my husband. No one can. Still, I can see why Rewa is head over heels for him.
