A heartbeat passes as my brain comes to a full and complete stop with her words. I squeeze her tighter as time starts rushing around us again. “You don’t mean?” She smiles and nods her head slowly.Holy shit.I whisper, “I’m going to be a dad?”
Her laughter and the way she wraps her arms around my neck are answer enough. There’s only one thing to do. I kiss her again. And again.
When the waiter comes with our dessert and clears his throat, I realize people are clapping. The waiter hands me a box and winks, “I figured you’d want this boxed up instead of enjoying it here.” I grin at him and reach for my wallet, but he holds up his hands. “It’s my understanding that the owners have taken care of your dinner tonight. Congratulations on your engagement.”
Willow’s smile is so big her cheeks must be hurting. I clasp her hand, lacing our fingers together so I can pull her out of the restaurant behind me. Now with my ring on her finger, I want to see what it’ll look like on my woman when it’s the only thing she’s wearing.
Before I help her into my truck, I push her up against the side of it and nip her earlobe. “You better get ready, Little Bit, because I am going to fuck you so hard you’ll be screaming my name. Then I’ll do it again and again, until you can’t take any more.”
She looks at me with stars in her eyes, “Looking forward to it, Big Daddy.”
I chuckle and kiss her forehead, feeling her arms wrap around me. I soak up the moment between us, filled with sweetness and possibility. There’s plenty of time for all the dirty shit I’m going to do to her, but this moment is about so much more.
She’s everything.
She’s mine.
EPILOGUE
SIX MONTHS LATER
LINCOLN
There isn’t a better place to be than snuggled up with my wife on the couch. My wife. My Willow. My Little Bit.
There are moments I can’t believe this is my life. That my entire world tipped over on itself the moment I saw her. Then I look over and see her sleeping next to me or see her smile and I know it’s all real.
I’m so fucking glad it is.
We got married two days ago on New Year’s Eve. It seemed fitting considering it was her resolution last year which caused her to seek out a date bringing her into my life. I also didn’t want to start another year with this woman being my wife or without her having my last name.
Now she’s all mine.
We kept the wedding intimate and small. Well, as intimate as it can be when you have a whole gaggle of people who have brought you into a family which includes rock stars. It was perfect. Coral and Paisley were Willow’s bridesmaids and I had Lawson and Tex standing up for me.
I thought I knew what beauty was after almost an entire year of having Willow in my life, but nothing could have prepared me for seeing my woman walking toward me in her wedding dress. Her baby bump being right there, proof of our love and our future, only made the whole thing sweeter.
Now we’re at a cabin outside Denver, the little getaway a present from Blake Higgins. The fire is roaring, and the mountains are covered in snow. It’s perfect.
She’s been such a trooper during this pregnancy, even after she dealt with a lot of morning sickness during the first trimester. I’m pretty sure I bought stock in saltines and ginger ale. Not like I minded, anything which would make her feel a little better and keep something down.
From what Amelia told me, it was a good thing her morning sickness was relegated to only the morning. I was able to be there for her, pulling her hair back and rubbing her back. I know she hated it, but I was more than happy to take care of her.
She’s growing my little girl. How could I want to do anything less for her?
Yeah. A daughter. When we found out at the gender ultrasound, I stared at the screen for a good solid five minutes, unable to move and barely breathing. A little girl.
I hope she looks just like her mama.
She’ll be so damn beautiful. I can only hope she finds a man one day who will treat her like the treasure she is, the same way I treat Willow. Or a woman; whatever floats her boat. I’ll expect the same kind of treatment no matter who my little girl ends up with.
I know. I’m getting ahead of myself. She’s not even here yet.
I rub my woman’s round belly, savoring this moment. It’s supposed to snow tonight and there is no better place to be while it comes down than right here. We have plenty of wood and more than enough supplies for our weeklong stay. I’ve never wanted to be snowed in more than I do now.
Willow shifts, pulling away from me slightly to look up at me, “What are you thinking about so hard, Big Daddy?”
I can’t help my body’s reaction to my woman, my cock going rock hard. I love her nickname for me, it tells me she feels the protection I give her, the safety I provide. I rub her rounded belly again, feeling our daughter kick in response. I love it when I feel her move around in there, especially when it’s because I’m talking to her.
