“Now, this is what I like to see. Are you ready for us to have fun?” Lance asks him. I feel his eyes on me. I rise from the bed, adjusting the ruffled duvet on the bed.
“Yes, Dad. Where are we going though?” I move closer to them, kissing Lance’s cheek and repairing Eric’s collar.
“Cumbria! It has an amazing lake and we’ll go to an aquarium that has the largest collection of freshwater fish. Would you like that?” He kisses my forehead, but his eyes never leave the attentive Eric.
“Yes, and do I get to keep a fish?”
“We can get you a pet fish if you want; just know it’s a lot of responsibility taking care of another life.” Lance presses his forehead to his son’s. They share a tender moment, looking into each other’s eyes.
Eric says, “Okay, I’ll think about it. Let’s go, Dad!” He jumps in Lance’s hand, pointing at the door.
Lance takes my hand and together we leave the room. In no time, our luggage is in the trunk of Lance’s car. Eric sits in the back, and Lance helps him with his seat belt. When I take my seat in front, he does the same for me, kissing my lips softly. “Are we ready?” He looks back at the swaddled Eric. Eric nods. We set off on a road trip to the Lake District in Cumbria, England. As we drive over the winding roads, playing Christmas songs and singing together, snow-capped mountains begin to appear in the distance. Lance rolls down the window a bit. The air is crisp and fresh, and the anticipation builds.
“We’re almost there,” he says. Eric slips out of the seat belt and sticks close to the frosty window to look out as Lance drives closer to the beautiful town, sheltered in the hills.
Upon our arrival, we check into a cozy cottage nestled amid rolling hills and picturesque villages. The cottage is fully decorated for Christmas, with twinkling lights, a festive wreath on the door, and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the living room.
Eric looks around the foyer of the cottage and is especially attracted to the Christmas tree. “Dad, we don’t have a Christmas tree at home,” he says with a wistful tone, touching the decorations on the tree.
“Well, we are moving to a bigger house soon, and there we will all decorate a massive Christmas tree.” He touches Eric’s hair, and his smile grows bigger; but I’m stunned.
“We’re moving?”
He notes the surprise in my voice and comes to check on me. “Oh, it just slipped out. I wanted it to be a surprise.”
We sit on the sofa, stretching our legs while we watch Eric take off his sweater and warm his hand by the fireplace. Lance looks ready to leap for Eric if he gets too close to the fire. “It certainly surprised me. Also, when you saidwe, that was the real shocker. Remember our arrangement was for me to stay at the penthouse till I found a better option...”
He places a finger on my lips. “That was before everything that happened between us. With Eric here now, it’s time I got a bigger place for us. Don’t think I’ll leave you behind.” We lock gazes, and I smile as he kisses me. “There’s no way I will let you go and leave me longing badly for you, my dear.”
Eric’s shout brings us apart. We leap to our feet, and my heart races in my chest, fearing what might have happened. To my relief, I see Eric with his hands over his mouth, staring at us incredulously.
“You did like...” He points at us and purses his lips for a kiss.
Lance and I burst out laughing. Lance scoops him up, ruffling his hair. I kiss Eric’s soft cheek and he blushes harder.
“Kissing means we care for each other, boy.” Lance says. Eric thinks for a moment, then kisses Lance’s nose. I snort out a laugh seeing Lance’s embarrassment.
“I care for you, Dad. Don’t leave me.” He hugs Lance tight. I feel so much compassion for them. The love in Lance’s eyes and the need in Eric’s hug makes me feel emotional.
“I love you, son and I won’t leave you. You have me and Chasmin.” Lance puts an arm around me, squeezing me into the hug.
“Your father is right. We both care for each other.” As I say that, I know I’m being pulled deeper into this.
It’s late so we put Eric to bed in his room, and we retire to our room. I stand in front of the mirror, taking off my clothes. Lance comes behind me, half-naked, and helps me. He kisses my shoulder and rubs it affectionately.
“We have so much to do tomorrow.” He rests his chin on my shoulder, his adoring eyes staring at me in the mirror. I touch his cheek, holding my pose.
Then his arms go around me, hugging me. My ass presses against him. I feel his sleeping member through the thin fabric of his boxers.
“We’ll have fun, I guess. I haven’t been here before, and it’ll be nice to see the sights with you and Eric,” I explain, feeling warmer with his body pressed into mine. His arm breath tickles my ears.
“Sometimes, I think I need to do more for him. I’ve missed so much time with him.”
I turn in the embrace, cupping his face. “This is new for you and even newer for me, but the time you missed with him makes the time you have with him now more precious. Don’t doubt yourself. Take it one step at a time.”
He lifts me up and my eyes go wide when he throws me on the king-size bed with its large duvet. He jumps into bed with me. “Is that so? I know how to go a few steps at a time.” He heaves a breath and kisses my belly up to my lips. My body tingles with excitement.
He wraps himself around me and throws the duvet over us. I press closer to him, feeling the rise and fall of his chest as I’m lulled to sleep. He says something I don’t catch, but I murmur an assent sleepily.
