“Comeon,”Domsays. “Weshould get moving.”

Myarms twine aroundBeau’sneck, andIsnuggle in.Idon’t want to leave this place just yet.Thecircle ofBeau’sarms is a wonderful, glorious sanctuary.

Beaugroans... andIhate that the sound is resigned. “He’sright.Wewon’t get back until well after nightfall as it is.”

Ishake my head and kiss his neck. “Mm-mm.Comfyhere.”

Awarning slap against my ass startles me into lifting my head.

“Ow.”Ifrown, glaring up atBeau.

Domsnorts in amusement, andIglare at him too.

Hesmiles back languidly, some of the stiffness in his muscles relaxing as he looks down at me. “Movethat ass, orI’llbruise it, gorgeous.”

Ihuff, but a smile bubbles at my lips. “Ithink you already did that.”

Beaukisses my forehead, andDom’sslow smile deepens. “One.”

Idrop my legs and get up quickly enough that my head spins, andDomlaughs.Beaubegins collecting his clothes, andIgrudgingly do the same with a sigh.

AsDomslings on his pack, he looks over at me thoughtfully. “Howare you feeling about the rest of it,Eden?Theshooter?”

Anotherunwelcome thought.HowdoIfeelabout it?Sick.Sad.Sorry.But...

“Ido understand whyIhad to do it,”Isay finally, and the words don’t feel like a lie.Iswallow. “Iwould do it again.”

Pleasedon’t let me have to do that again.

Domnods. “Youshould talk toJasper.”Atmy expression, he lifts a brow, then shakes his head. “Wemight have helped with your initial panic,Eden, but kink isn’t a substitute for therapy.Thiskind of thing leaves a mark.Youshould talk to him.”

“AndIpromise he’s better at dealing with trauma than he is at relationship advice,”Beauadds wryly, andIsnort softly.

Thethought of opening up toJasperagain makes my stomach churn in a different way.Iremember curling up at his feet and staring up at the gorgeous veil of his eyelashes.Theway the world just fell away.

Forme, anyway.

Icouldn’t have made more of a fool of myself.

“I’llthink about it,”Ipromise, when both of them keep staring at me.Domopens his mouth like he’s about to argue, butBeaushoots him another quelling look.Ismile softly at him. “I’mokay.Fornow,I’mokay.He—they all—wanted to hurt us.Hewould have killed me, or taken me back toSam, andI—”

Icut off asBeauturns stiff as a board. “What?”Ilook at him. “WhatdidIdo?”

DomandBeauexchange a look loaded with meaning, and alarm skitters down my spine.

Hardgolden eyes impale me. “Thatname,Eden.Wheredid you hear that name?”

“Whatname?”Istammer. “Sam?That’stheir leader. He’sthe one who almost caught me.”

Hiseyes press closed.

“Hewasn’t in the clearing that first day,”Beausays, dull shock ringing through his tone. “Wedidn’t see him in the woods later.Wecouldn’t have known. But, shit...Wedidn’t even question her when we took her home.Dom...”

Beauyanks his shirt on, shaking his head.

“You’resure?”Domasks me urgently. “You’resurethat was the name?”

“Y-yes.”Iglance between them.Ifeel a sudden draft.Lookingat my mangled bra and ripped shirt,Iabandon them and reach for my bag.Ipull out my spare set of clothes and get dressed as quickly asIcan. “WhatamImissing?”
