Marry Ramos and—

‘You are required to read and sign this, mademoiselle.’

Flora blinked. She hadn’t noticed the door open.

The suited woman handed a document to her.

Flora cleared her throat. ‘What is it?’

‘For you to sign.’

‘Helpful,’ she muttered. She’d taken in only that it was a prenuptial agreement when the next contraction hit.

Her fingers tightened around the document but she gritted her teeth tightly and kept her gaze fixed on it, refusing to allow so much as a moan of pain leave her mouth.

‘Are you okay,mademoiselle?’

She nodded and managed to make a noise that sounded a bit likeahuh. Once she’d ridden the pain out, she glanced at her watch. Ten minutes since the last one.

Don’t panic, she told herself.Don’t panic.

The door flew open. Ramos appeared.

‘Are you ready to sign?’ he asked.

She took a deep breath. ‘Have you got the papers retracting your evidence?’

‘It’s in hand. As soon as our marriage licence is signed it will be lodged.’

Flora closed her eyes briefly then focused them on the document in her hand. Figures with lots of zeros flashed before her but she paid them scant attention. All she needed to check was that it dealt only with the financial side of their marriage and it did.

‘Can I have a pen, please?’ she asked the woman.

A pen was produced and a table pushed to her.

Marry Ramos and set her brother free.

Marry Ramos and tie herself to the most loathsome man on the planet.

Justin won.

Flora signed.

Ramos’s smile was pure satisfaction. ‘Time for us to marry.’

CHAPTER THREE

IGNORINGRAMOS’SOUTSTRETCHEDhand of help, Flora hoisted herself onto her feet.

Her baby was coming.

She’d get the farce of a wedding done with, ensure Ramos kept his word about Justin, and then she would tell him he was going to be a father imminently.

Plenty of time, she assured herself. Ten minutes between contractions was fine. Her English midwife had told her she probably wouldn’t be admitted into hospital until the contractions were four minutes apart. That would likely take hours. Right now, she needed to concentrate on Justin’s freedom. She had no idea how Ramos would react to her being in labour and didn’t dare risk telling him just yet.

She was in labour!

A zing of pure excitement flooded her. Her baby was coming!
